Exchange 2010 sending email to an outside user with same domain name as exch

Very unique situation here.

SBS 2011 - Using POP connector to send/rec email to pop host at network solutions. Has been working for years.

I now have a user who won't have any access to our network that I want to give an email address to.

I add him to the POP host at netsol

Problem is, when sending email to that account from inside our network it expects to see a local exchange mailbox and send a "no user found".

Is there a way to configure exchange (or formulate an address) that when an exchange has email to this user it automatically sends it to the pop account?

I was thinking something like addressing like this: smtp:user@domain.com but that didn't work. Or somehow putting something in his ad account that forces the email outside regardless of the domain name.

Outlook 365 Out of office - summary for everyone whos away

We send out daily "Absence" emails containing everyone thats away on that day.
As we have recently moved to Outlook 365.
Would like to have a summary of everyone who has set their Out of office to HR to make this absence list much easier to send.
Would also like to look at templating this and sending it out as an email based off Outlook out of office setting.

How many DAG members for a LAN with 40 mailboxes?

Single site business.

40 odd users. 3 Shared mailboxes. 

Exchange 2016 on premise with Outlook 2016 clients and OWA from outside.

Email is low traffic but vital to business.

Currently has 2 DAG members - both on Vmware virtual machines (different ones) and a witness server. Is it worth implementing a third DAG member?

Let me start by saying my school uses Google Suite for our own E-Mail services so I do not have this issue there. translated: I am not an Outlook or Exchange user.

I recently built a VM Server running Windows Server 2016 standard and Installed Exchange Server 2016 for a class on Outlook as requested by a local business. I have built 12 student e-mail accounts and 1 teacher account so they can learn how to use Outlook and send e-mails between the class participants.

The first big glaring issue is, the C:\Windows\Temp file fills up every few days full of "stuff" and maxes out the capacity of the drive, making the unit crawl and grind to a halt. I was able to find an older thread on this but no solution was ever presented.

the student accounts seem to be able to send e-mails to each other, but not to the teacher or the teacher not to the...

issue with New-Remote Mailbox user creation in Hybrid Exchange

Hi all,

Odd issue I've been dealing with that is sending me crazy. here is our config:

E3 Subscription
Exchange 2010 Hybrid
ADSync with AADConnect
User mailboxes hosted on 365 Exchange

When creating a new user we are using the New-RemoteMailbox method. This creates the user mailbox on 365, creates the user on our local AD, then syncs the ADs.

User creation part works fine. Remote mailbox is created fine. The problem is with the aliases and routing address. When the remote mailbox is created, it makes the correct routing address - username@company.mail.onmicrosoft.com and correct alias - username@company.com. But when the user appears in 365, it only has username@companyname.com

However eventually the username@company.onmicrosoft.com shows up

If I make a user in AD and sync it, create a mailbox locally...

Hotmail / MSN Blocks our SMTP

Today whenever our customer teams try to send a email to hotmail/live/msn they get a rejected email

Your message wasn't delivered due to a permission or security issue. It may have been rejected by a moderator, the address may only accept email from certain senders, or another restriction may be preventing delivery.

Exchange emails stuck in drafts

So I've been trying out exchange, but I have been running into an issue where whenever I send an email, it goes into drafts, with the error message "we're not ready to send your email, yet but we will soon" but it never sends.

Major Meeting Organizer Leaving Company

We have Exchange Online in a hybrid environment. A meeting organizer with hundreds of recurring meetings through 2019 is leaving a company.

We need a way to edit/reschedule these meetings after the employee leaves, but cannot spam the attendees with notifications by proactively canceling and recreating all the meetings with new organizers.

We plan to assign a new person as a delegate of the original meeting organizer's calendar short term.

Other than keeping the account active until the last meeting expires, what options are available?

Can this mailbox calendar be given a new owner who has meeting organizer rights on all the existing meetings?

Two server EDGE - Exchange 2010

Hello,
I have a question about adding two EDGE server.
Certainly receive the mail by the address of the EDGE server I need to make MX entries with a higher priority.
To send e-mails from the second EDGE it's enough to add an SPF record with an IP address.
I still have a question about how synchronization works between two EDGE servers. If the main EDGE server does not respond then the mail is received / sent from exchange by the second EDGE?
Is the backup EDGE just receiving the mail and forwarding it to the main server when this one is on-line?


Exchange users must receive / send mail through a second EDGE server when the primary server fails

Unable to receive or send email to external domian

Hi,

for some reason our email for external stop working.

Our Domian

Exchange 2010 Sp3 Haybird link to Office 365

All database are still on exchange 2010

I run the trace but it ask for email from same domain which is down at the moment but I was able to run summary of it.

Microsoft Exchange external connectivity with outlook issue

Dear Experts, 

I need your support in Microsoft Exchange 2016 external connectivity on outlook.

Recently Changes 

Recently we have updated our firewall from Cisco ASA to Sonicwall. Since than we are facing issue in connecting email on outlook externally please note that our external OWA link is working fine the only problem is with outlook. i found in outlook our internal link is not getting change when we are connecting outlook outside of the network.

Can anyone provide any solution for our problem.

Need help with New-ComplianceSearch

Hi all,

I am currently trying to get the New-ComplianceSearch stuff in Exchange 2016 working, but I am having some problems.

First of all, i can confirm that I am a domain admin and am a member of the Discovery Management Exchange AD group.

When I run the command:

New-ComplianceSearch -Name "SearchTest" -ExchangeLocation All -ContentMatchQuery "Test"

I get the following error:


Interestingly, if I just run the command 'New-ComplianceSearch' it looks like it begins the process, but it fails whenever I try to specify a name...

What am I doing wrong?

How to show users inbox as empty but give access to another user to see emails?

Good Morning Spiceworks, 

Was wondering if you could help me,

HR have asked to give access to a users inbox for an investigation, that is fine and i know how to delegate access to another user for inbox and calendar entries.

But the twist is, the user still needs to access emails but show as empty?

Can this be done, and what can i do to achieve this, or do i have to stay strong and say this cannot be done.

We are using Exchange 2013

Have called the person who has raised the request and they have said that they want the whole inbox migrated to the person investigating and the user still to use emails as normal.

Very strange request.

Backup not replaying newer tlog's...

I have a backup from 8/21 that includes it's tlogs and the backup is fully functional however I can't get the soft recovery to include anything newer than the backup itself even though I have several weeks of tlogs in the log dir when doing the soft recovery...  Any ideas what i could be doing wrong?  eseutil /ml E02 does cycle through from the old to the new logs just fine with no errors eseutil /r E02 still does not bring those logs in..  I've tried with and without various checkpoint files.  I've tried with just the logs and with other the other random files in the directory.  I'm obviously doing something wrong but i can't figure out what.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Equipment mailbox, set Custom attributes Access rights?

In Exchange Online I have created an Equipment "Car". When booking I can see that its booked but not by who? I would like to assign all users to be able to see who has booked the Car. When I edit the resource in Exchange I can set custom attributes (in General section) for the resource. But how do I set the attribute? 

Users shall be able to see the bookings but not modify/delete the them.

I am a noob so no cmdlets please.

Shared mailboxes / sent items saving in user mailbox instead

Hi all,

I know this has been posted before and this issue was fixed awhile back but it seems to of reared its ugly head again!

Basically if a user has a shared mailbox and sends/forwards an email from the shared mailbox the sent item will appear in the users personal sent items and the sender will appear as the user and not the shared mailbox! This has been causing confusion and some issues.

I have created the DWORD DelegateSentItemsStyle in

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\Preferences

Restarted Outlook and the issue still persists, this is under a Exchange 2010 / Outlook 2013 environment will all the latest updates and patches installed, anyone else having this problem?

Cant get online

I have 2 servers next to each other with fixed IP. One can get online and second one cant. They have same network settings.
I tried rebooting
Taking firewalls on and off
Flush release and renew
Server that can get online can ping the other one

What else can i try

Public folders or Shard Mailbox? Using Office365

Hi, So we are using Office365 hosted Exchange Business Essentials plan.

We want to have about 5 people use one of those 2 options for generic Sales@company.com email to come into.

I don't know all the "gotcha's" for each solution. For example if one of the users reply's to an email does it only show in their sent folder?

Any help with prior experience with these and any useful tips would be very helpful.

autodiscover exchange 2013

In my environment I have an exchange 2013 server hosted Onsite at our corporate office. This server has been in place and working well since early 2013. Lately i've been having issues with autodiscover and outlook 2016.

I've read AJ's exchange guide at

I've followed to the t but i still have an issue and lately it's cause a couple clients who connect externally issues with setting up outlook.

the biggest issue is with autodiscover.xml.

when i browse to https://owa.domain.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xmlI get a password prompt, meaning i've found the xml file.

but when i browse to https://autodiscover.domain.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xmlI get a 404 error stating the page does not exist. this causes outlook to fail the provisioning stage.
