Outlook Address Book through GPO?

$

The company I work for doesn't have control over their email server, nor their email creation and maintenance. Our parent company doles everything out to us upon request and we have our Outlook clients configured using Zimbra Collaboration Server.

That being said, we have no control over the Address Book to make changes as far as pictures, inter-office extensions, etc. I have a .pst of the updated Address Book that I would like to somehow push out to every computers Outlook, so they have it.

Is there any way to go about doing this?

Need help with Exchange Autodiscover

I have a few remote users and if the machine wasn't joined to our domain and VPN'd in then I have a terrible time setting up a new outlook profile. Usually after hours of tinkering it just magically works??? I cannot even manually set it up it tells me cannot access mail server. If the machine is set up locally and on our domain and then goes remote it works just fine. Oh and it doesn't help that the one I'm working on now is in Portuguese. I am not very good with Exchange so any help would be great. TIA

Sync signature atomically across outlook 2010 and microsoft exchange activesync

Hello all,

I have a specific question that i will try to make as simple as possible to answer. In our work environment, we have an exchange 2010 server, outlook 2010 on all terminal servers as well as exchange activesync on the cell phones and tablets.

My question would be: is there a way to have the email signature that each employee has, which is pulled from Active directory, be automatically, or manually by IT, setup on the android phones and tablets? I ask this because it occurred to me when an employee's signature is changed for whatever reason, it is not automatically changed on their mobile device but it is on their outlook account as this information is pulled from AD. Right now, the current setup for a user's signature on their cell phone or tablet is copy and pasted from an existing email with the signature on it and then put...

Exchange 2013 Linked Mailbox - Associate new user account (employee transfers)

Occasionally, an employee will transfer from one business unit to another within our corporation. The user will receive a new user account at the new business unit.

In Exchange 2013, users' mailboxes are linked mailboxes - they are associated with user accounts in a trusted domain. When users transfer, we want them to keep their existing mailbox - just attach it to their new user account in whatever domain they move to.

So, let's say Exchange lives in ParentCompany.net. Mailbox is linked to OldCompany\OldUsername, but needs to be linked to NewCompany\NewUsername.

I have a script that updates all of this andappearsto successfully link the mailbox to the new user account. The mailbox seems to function normally.

After updating the LinkedMasterAccount, is there something hidden within that mailbox that I need to update using MFCMAPI.exe or...

Exchange 2013 forward to external address sends to internal domain instead

Hello all,

I have a new Exchange 2013 server (single server with all roles) set up which functions perfectly except for this one glitch. I've created two external contacts (friend1@outside.com and friend2@outside.com) and a rule that says when email comes in from an address containing keyword "help", forward to the external contacts.

So an email comes in from help@someone.com and triggers the rule, but it forwards the mail to friend1@mydomain.com and friend2@mydomain.com. The original recipient gets bouncebacks each time this happens because those users are not internal. The bouncebacks lead me to believe the rule is set up client side, but we've tried it both ways. I've also added a second smtp address with the local domain under our contacts, with same result.

Any ideas as to why it's picking up the internal domain name?

Thanks!

Exchange 2003: Restore Deleted Mailbox For Deleted User

Hi all,

I have a mailbox we need to get data from for a user who was deleted from AD a few years ago. I have the store and it mounts perfectly in a Recovery Storage Group. I can exmerge data out of it for users who still exist. But, since the account I want is gone, I can't use ExMerge or the GUI recover either. We are using Exchange standard, so we only get 1 store. I've thought about building a quick VM, create an AD, install Exchange, mount the store and connect the mailbox I want to one of hte accounts. There has to be an easier way, right?

email address format for contractors/vendors

We are looking to implement an email address policy that identifies non employees/consultant/vendors email addresses.  We are thinking about placing a "v-" in front of the users email such as v-username@domainname.com to denote non employees

What experience does the community have regarding  this type of indicator?  Any suggestions on what you've seen in the past ?

Exchange 2010 mailbox not retaining deleted items - user wiped the dumpster

I have a user who left 2 days ago. He deleted everything in the mailbox. When I ran a mailbox search it only recovered a bunch of calendar items. No emails. Mailbox size in EMC is 450mb.

I also tried an export request with no filters. Also tried export request-includefolder "#Recoverable Items/Deletions#" - nothing.

Database is set to retain deleted items for 1 year. Mailbox was set to use the default retention policy and database defaults. I suspect that this setting has somehow not applying (retain deleted items = 1yr) but in the storage quotas it is saying "use DB defaults".

I restored a mailbox from backup but my choices in server backup 2008R2 were yesterday or late June. No in between options were available.

I did a restore from June. When I mounted the restore DB (had to run a repair for it to mount) I did notice something odd....

Clean up Sent items over a year old and larger than 5 MB in Exchange 2010

I hope the title explains what I am looking to do. I am migrating to Office365 in a few weeks and want to clean up my Exchange 10 server. I can set up a retention policy to delete sent items over a year old but haven't found a good method of deleting sent items over 5MB. The script from the website below is great and gives me a breakdown ofthe entire database and I can delete items but it wont let me delete from just the sent folder. The sent items over 5 MB make up 10 percent of the entire database. Any help would be appreciated. There are gonna be some upset people when they find out they can only keep a year of sent items but the CEO said delete everything over a year. A sample of the script output is attached.

Hi Exchange Gurus/Spiceheads,

Recently we encounter some emails are missing or not received by users. I myself encounter it yesterday whereas my boss and accounting receives the email but me. I ask verio support but not help so far. The missing email didn't go to junk or filtering.

How to fix the issue or help verio to fix our issues?

Thank you very much and more power.

Email encryption without a password

I am considering purchasing Citrix ShareFile to provide email encryption.  This would allow sensitive to be emailed that otherwise should not be delivered via email.

ShareFile has an option to encrypt the body and attachment of an email with or without requiring the recipient to enter a password.  Can someone explain to me how possible/safe that is?

Without a password required anyone with the URL of the file could gain access to the data.  They claim that is HIPPA, FINRA, SOX, .... compliant and I can't understand how.  Love the ease of use but need to understand this a bit better before moving forward.

Thank you

Hi guys,

I'm running ExPDA and am getting the following error: -

Active Directory site 'site-name' does not contain any global catalog server running Windows Server 2003 SP 1 or later.

This is, I do. Running on Win Server 2012 R2. Did an nltest and the appropriate flag is coming up.

I've read some comments that ExPDA has not been upgraded to detect 2012 R2 DC's. Would this be the issue? Has anyone else come across this using ExPDA (for Exch 2010).

Appreciate any wisdom!

Exchange 2003 Receive issue

Hey Guys,

I am experiencing an issue with my receive connector in Exchange 2003 on Server 2003.

When a particular external user emails a particular internal user the email fails to deliver. However when that external user emails a different internal user, the delivery succeeds. Example

From;Externaluser@somewhere.com

To;InternalUser@Here.com

CC;OtherInternalUser@Here.com

InternalUser will not receive the email, OtherInternalUser will receive the email, see attached image;

This happens to a few particular users from particular senders.

Messagelabs shows a generic error;

451 4.4.2 [internal] connection closed by remote host

Exchange 2003 smtp logs are more interesting;

2015-08-23 15:17:25 216.82.255.55 mail6.bemta7.messagelabs.com SMTPSVC1 EX2003 10.10.0.2 0 QUIT - mail6.bemta7.messagelabs.com 240 5844 72 4 0 SMTP - - - -

Multiple unsuccessful login attempts using generic login names?

$

So I have noticed over the past few weeks I am getting account lockouts of some of our more generic user accounts. For example we have some accounts named (domain\TEST), (domain\ARCHIVE), (domain\SCANNER) and so on. It is our Exchange 2010 server which is locking the account out. When I go into the Event Log of the Exchange 2010 server I can see the attempt. (Whoever is doing this is not using a domain name, just a standard "test" or "scanner" account but since we actually have an account with that name the domain controller is locking out that account.

I also see hundreds of failed attempts using other accounts which we dont have such as Joe, John, testing, test1, printer, help, etc. So it appears whoever is doing this is just trying to fish for anything they can get out on the internet ...

The problem is I cannot for the life of me...

Updating client access server to public for Exchange 2010

Hi,

At the moment we use a local server hostname for our exchange 2010 server: ABCSERVER

We need to update the client access server to mail.abccompany.co.uk - details here as we are getting certificate errors after a renewal:

https://www.digicert.com/internal-domain-name-tool.htm

I am concerned when I change the client access server to mail.abccompany.co.uk it will break users Outlook clients as they are still looking at ABCSERVER.

Any thoughts?

Exchange 2010 Why Archive

$

Just wondering if there are any benefits to setting up archiving (personal archive folders) in exchange 2010. As exchange now handles large mailboxes the default being 2GB, but easily increased (outlook 365 offers 50gb) why would you bother with a personal archive folder over just increasing the mailbox size.

internal users get an NDR #550 5.1.1 Resolver.adr.exrecinotfound

Hi all ...

I've had a 'local remote move' to Office365 mail but due to misconfigurations we got alot of errors. Unforfunately I can't move the mailbox back because we are running exchange 2010.

For that reason we deleted the online mailbox, created a new 'on-premises' and restored the e-mail mailbox from Veeam.

So now we can send and recieve e-mails.
BUT sometimes people get an #550 5.1.1 NDR .... this usually happens from internal senders.

Extract from NDR!

wildcard SSL Cert on Exchange

$

Hello all,

Calling on any and all Exchange 2010 experts here. Here's the situation:

- Server Exchange 2010 -- all exchange roles & services are installed on a single VM

- Outlook anywhere is enabled

- Currently the SAN SSL cert for all exchange services (mail., webmail., autodiscover., ect) is expiring in a few days, and we can't renew it. (he internal exchange server name has a non-routable FQDN "server.Internal")

- There's a Wildcard cert that we can use for now.

- We're also planning to migrate this client to O365 soon (within the next few month)

My questions are:

1) I have used wildcard certs on exchange boxes before. I know it's not best practice, but are there any major (gotchas) in using the Wildcard cert

2) Do I need to change any DNS settings/records if we are to implement a wildcard SSL

3) How will end users be effected? My...
