Hello everyone,
Been a while since I have posted, but wanted to get some input on an issue I am seeing with a client.
While most people use Distribution groups for sending out mass emails internally, some people are sending out mass emails to 900 or more people, adding them all, vs using a dist. list.
Steps are being taken to stop them from doing this and educating them on better ways, but curiosity has me wondering. When this department emails the 900 or more people, Exchange CPU usage spikes through the roof, and everyone notices performance issues. This is a 2 node DAG cluster with Exchange 2016 most recently patched. 12 vCPU's on each node with 64GB of ram. Just over 1000 total mailboxes. Running on a Dell VxRail cluster with plenty of horsepower behind it.
Any one have any info on what exactly is causing the CPU spikes to occur, is it...

Exchange Migration Problem Mailbox
Hi all
We have migrated from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013.
One mailbox has become an issue. Both 2007 and 2013 EACs that the mailbox is on the 2013 server, but when I run the report Get-MailboxStatistics -server
On my 2007 server Event Viewer, I have multiple Event 1022. This mailbox seems to somehow be on both servers? On the client side, there are no issues. All mailbox roles are on 2013.

Exchange 2010 Bounced emails
Dear SpiceHeads,
One of our suppliers uses mandrillapp to send us notification emails. Some notifications are not delivered and he gets bounce message. The most of emails from the supplier is delivered, we can't simulate the problem to easy track the problem.
We're preparing migration to M365, but still using old Exchange 2010. MX record points directly to out Exchange. We have no 3rd party antispam, we only use internal Exchange antispam (organization - Hub transport - Anti-spam).
We have SPF record: v=spf1 a:exchange.mycompany.com include:spf.mandrillapp.com -all
the bounce message:

In Outlook/Exchange, set reservations for certain resources as All Day Only.
Hi,
My company has a requirement to set reservation for certain company facilities, such as company-owned huts and lodges, to a default of All Day, so, multiple people can't reserve them for the same day. Need help finding an appropriate tool or script to build this control please. Per my research, there is no standard parameter that can be set to achieve that.
People who have availed a certain facility in the past six months would only be able to make a reservation on tentative basis, to be accepted or rejected by the Admin. This control, too, only needs to be applied to a certain category of locations.
We are using Exchange 2010 with O365. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!
Discovery of local PST files from 365
Hi all,
In this covid situation, with most users working from home, does anyone know of a way to reliably detect if a user has a pst file connected to their outlook profile from o365?
I've tried using a powershell script to read the users outlook profile and write that back to a share when the user logs on (deployed via GPO), but it's not capturing as many as i'd thought was out there. Also, not everyone connects to VPN regularly so may not even be receiving the GP.
Also tried using McAfee to report on file changes but again this isn't reliable enough as the file has to change for it to alert and PSTs may not change regularly.
Any ideas / suggestions appreciated!
TIA

Does having only one MX record cause a ding to your rep?
I was told today after removing a secondary MX record that if a customer didn't have two that they could get their rep dinged by spam filtering services. I removed the MX record because it was going to an IP that was not in use by anything and it was causing issues with my customer receiving email from one of their clients. As soon as I removed it mail flowed as it should. Added it back and now client cannot send mail to my customer. I could see in the smtp log that it would start off on the correct address then about 3/4 of the way through it would then switch to the un-used IP and then show a message of delayed sending.
On-Prem Exchange 2016: Get-RecoverableItems not a recognized cmdlet
I've been googling for a bit, and most of the stuff I'm finding specifically states it is for Microsoft 365 where apparently you have to install the AzureAD module or some such thing for Get-RecoverableItems to be recognized. My exchange server is on-prem. It is Exchange 2016, and I have the Mailbox Import Export role.
[PS] C:\Windows\system32>Get-ManagementRole -Cmdlet Restore-RecoverableItems Name RoleType ---- -------- Mailbox Import Export MailboxImportExport [PS] C:\Windows\system32>Get-ExchangeServer | Format-List Edition,AdminDisplayVersion Edition : Standard AdminDisplayVersion : Version 15.1 (Build 1531.3)
Microsoft Docs say nothing about which modules I need to have installed for this to work.

Prepend a warning to inbound external email that matches a user name - Ex2013
Good people of the Spice World...hope you're all staying safe out there!!
Looking for some assistance if its even possible...
I'm looking to add a warning message to inbound external email but only if the sender name matches a user name (CAO Fraud email type). We have a Barracuda SPAM firewall but it will only add a static message to all inbound messages - not customizable - and we are running Exchange 2013 on prem.
I read up on both sides of using these kinds of banners and agree that if it hits all external email, it'll just become more noise that will eventually be ignored. But if the banner fires only if (ex) CAO at AOL/gmail matches CAO at company domain, then it will get noticed. Also hoping to create this using HTML so it will come out as a highlighted text box and not just plain text as a prepended message.

Non-unique proxy address in Exchange Online
Why is this soo hard?
I find all this info on this and none of it works.
We set licences though Azure groups and I get an error "Non-unique proxy address in Exchange Online"
But it wont tell me what the conflict is, and none of the Powershell, like this;
Get-Recipient|Where-Object{$_.EmailAddresses-match"user@domain.com"}|Format-ListName,RecipientType,emailaddresses
Gives me a match
Really annoying
Exchange 2013 Remove unused Database
I have an unused database that I would like to delete, it got corrupted earlier in the year and wouldn't repair. All the users are are removed from this database, but after running the following commands, the monitoring command shows there is 4 healthmailboxes present. Would these need to me migrated to another database or do they only monitor the database they are contained in?
get-mailbox -database "Databasename"
get-mailbox -database "Databasename" -archive
get-mailbox -database "Databasename" -arbitration
get-mailbox -database "Databasename" -publicfolder
get-mailbox -database "Databasename" -monitoring
get-mailbox -database "Databasename" -auditlog (This didn't work)
[PS] C:\Windows\system32>get-mailbox -database Databasename -monitoring

Exchange 2013 and Outlook 2010 additional mailbox sync issue
Hey Everyone,
I have a user who has a secondary mailbox in their outlook that is used for website form submissions and every couple months it will not show certain emails until weeks/months later...for example:
Yesterday they received 4 emails all at once, one from almost a month ago and one from 2 weeks ago. This user has been receiving emails in this mailbox everyday but certain ones get lost and show up later in time.
When I use Get-MessageTrackingLog to search for the messages I see the email date stamped for a month ago and 2 weeks ago but the log has it between 11/4 and 11/3 as seen in the following:
Our incoming SPAM service show the emails were in fact relayed to our exchange 2013 server on the correct dates.
I am trying to figure out if this is a client side issue or server side and how to go about fixing it.
Any ideas on what...
Exchange Retention Policy Missing Tags
Hey All,
So I'm embarking in to the world of retention policies and tags etc on our exchange server, but am a little confused as I updated the "Default MRM" policy which has been applied to my mailbox for some time now but I don't see the updated tags as available options when I right click a folder? Quite a few of them are missing.

Sudden remote Outlook connection issues: Exchange 2019
We have an on-prem Exchange 2019 system through which we provide email to members of our association. Most of these clients access the internet through their own broadband connections and are using Outlook 2016. SInce late last week, some clients at some sites have been having issues getting or staying connected to our Exchange servers. One admin thought he'd found an issue with an Office patch and that removing KB44867671 would help, but we're seeing this issue with windows 10 boxes without that patch as well. DNS seems solid and our monitoring tests of the servers all check out. Any other ideas? TIA!
Exchange Online Is Down
Did anyone else get hit with this nearly all day Exchange Online outage? As of 5:10PM central, we are still down.
Mind you this is our first outage with Microsoft 365 Exchange like this in 6 years as a customer but management is furious and wants me to leave them and provide another provider. And we are already intrenched in TEAMS and Office E3.
Outlook Email rules
Is it better to create an email forward rule (to internal staff) in my Outlook client or on the EAC itself?
Does my Outlook client need to be open for my rules to process?
If that is the case, I'm thinking its better to setup rules on the EAC.
Exchange, Send Connector by User
Hello,
Is it possible to force a users to use a specific Send Connector in Exchange? I know you can do it by domain but what about by user?
Thanks,
Exchange 2016 Migration - Multiple potential Migration mailboxes were found
Hello!
Because of some issue, I was forced to move some users form 1 Database to another one, on the same Exchange 2016 Server.
After some migration batch where finished, I accidentally deleted SystemMailbox from AD before removing them on migration tab of ECP.
Got this error - The migration mailbox for the organization is either missing or invalid.
After following this procedurehttps://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/troubleshoot/migration/moving-migration-mailbox-fails
Now I get this error:
Any advice... I've tried some search but without success!
Thanks
Internal emails going to junk folder
We recently changed our business name and in doing so also changed our domain. After doing this we updated our settings in O365 exchange by adding it to our mail flow > accepted domains but for some reason our mail-enabled security groups email addresses are getting filtered as junk/spam.
