Incoming Email with attachment failed with bounce back message to sender

Hi Folks,

Stay Safe.

I have one issue. I have Exchange Server 2019 installed on Windows Server 2019 DC and Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange.

One external user sent us Emails with attachment and that bounced back with error message. Emails without attachment received fine. My user is a mailbox user not distribution list.

In Get-MessageTracking I found FAIL event.

I have an AD Domain (i.e bluedomain.com) and I have a second domain (i.e reddomain.com)

The red domain has an MS Exchange email server but the blue domain does not.

Is there a way to have blue domain users use a red domain mailbox and email address such that the user bluedomain\jim can have a jim@reddomain.com email address and access the relevant mailbox in the red domain Exchange server as bluedomain\jim ? or do I need a blue domain exchange server for bluedomain\jim and carry out some transform between the blue and red mailboxes?


Event ID: 4625 & 4771

Hello,

We have been starting to get a number of entries for event IDs: 4625 and 4771. I see this article https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security/threat-protection/auditing/event-4625 but it does not show how to correct this.

It shows:

Failure Information:

Failure Reason: Unknown user name or bad password. Status: 0xC000006D Sub Status: 0xC000006A

The users which show up in the event viewer are not entering the incorrect user name or password multiple times. How can this be corrected?

The users changed their passwords in September and October. Searching online said it may be resulting from cached credentials which are outdated on users' devices. Does this mean on their PCs or mobile phones? They both use their PCs each day and have exchange configured on their iphones which they use daily.

Exchange Inbound Routing question for two domains

My company is composed of 2 smaller companies - one in CA and one in NY. Each on their own AD domain. Each has their own Exchange Server. Both companies have different email domains. They both have email security hardware at each site. Both companies are sort of mirrors on how they are setup.

They each have their own internet and also are connected by a 10gig WAN Circuit.
In the past, we used the email security/spam filters as our SMTP gateways for inbound and outbound email.

For INBOUND email, each domain has 2 MX records:

NY-SITE.com:
MX 10 = mx.ny-site.com
MX 20 = mx.ca-site.com

CA-SITE.com:
MX 10 = mx.ca-site.com
MX 20 = mx.ny-site.com

Those MX's point to the SMTP Gateways on each side. They both accept email for both domains. Each side can send email across the WAN if one side's internet goes down. GREAT.

Exchange Server - Huge problem, anyone can see all Calendars.

Got a huge problem here in that it appears any user on our Exchange Server can add and see anyone else's Calendars even when they have not been given any permissions to do so. We have pulled up the Sharing Properties of a calendar in Outlook and Outlook Web Access, no sharing is enabled yet when I go to another standard user I was able to add the other persons calendar and see all events. Ran a Powershell script to show al the permissions and again when I look at the primary user, no sharing, send on behalf or anything else in enabled.

Users are general domain users, no special access rights granted at the user level either.

Totally confused how this is happening. Server will be updated and rebooted tonight but that shouldn't do anything.

Exchange 2016 - Management had me delete a mailbox and user for a furloughed employee. Now, 10 days later, they want me to restore the user and mailbox. Is there an easy way to do that without going to my backups?


Exchange Hybrid Issues

Hello,

I'm hoping that you'd be able to help me on an issue that I've found myself working on.

Our users are running an Exchange Hybrid (Exchange 2010 with Microsoft 365). The Hybrid has been running fine since setup. However over the past few days we've seen a few issues which are a little confusing.

I hadn't setup the environment or sync so its hard trying to piece together how everything should be setup.

Reported issues

  • MacOS users are unable to sign into or configure mailbox on Outlook - Does not work internally or externally. Windows is fine
  • Users are unable to set OOO/AutoReply status - Works via OWA or Admin centre
  • Users are unable to view calendars of other employees - (Works via OWA and in Desktop app, if i raise permissions from limited details to reviewer)

I believe that all issues are related to the same issue, which I feel is...

Organisation wide add-in ?

Hi,

Exchange 2016 server on-premise here.

In the Exchange ECP | Organization screen, I want to add this add-in : https://appsource.microsoft.com/en-us/product/office/WA200000041 as an Organization-wide add-in.

However when I try to add it from either the Office Store or from an URL, I get the error message "Unable to download the application"

Any ideas ?

Exchange 2013, inboundproxy@contosco in mail queue

Hi everyone

have an exchange 2013 server running the latest CU, have noticed a lot of mail in the queue thats trying to go to inboundproxy, its been rejected by their spam filter as its not an accepted domain there. im wondering how i can resolve all this mail being there, as its causing mail delays. i have tried to recreate the helpth mailboxes, but hasnt helped

Hello

Exchange server 2019 cu7

Made a shared mailbox and can't start using it. Few days ago tried to make the same and it worked but not now. Googled a lot of solution advices but most of the for online o365, not for self hosted. Other for 2013/2016 versions. Nothing helps.

In the mailbox properties granted Full access and Send as rights. In the organization section user marked as Manager.

When trying to send, outlook returned and 0x80070005-0x000004dc-0x00000524 error. Tried online and cached mode, no result. Tried to download address book, no result and shared mailbox's email is not being listed in the address book.

Made Ad-AdPermission -Extendedrights"Send As", no result.

Reply I'm getting (think it is usual one)

High IOPS/Latency C Drive Exchange 2016

Hi Guys,

I've noticed of late that the C Drive on an Exchange 2016 Hybrid server has been very very laggy. Checking Performance Monitor and the SAN Array software and I am seeing extremely high IOPS constantly only on C Drive. Now the Server is setup as:

C: OS
E: Main Exchange Mailbox Database
L: Logs (Database Transaction logs for all DB';s)

R: Archive Mailbox Database, Temporary Database

The other Drives are working fine, IOPS/Latency is down to normal levels even under loads. There are no DB's or Transaction Logs running on C Drive.

From what I am seeing - its the Exchange Performance Logging etc that seems to be causing me the issues.

Every time I am seeing these high spikes its Exchange logging running off C Drive. All the other drives appear to be running fine and not seeing the same issue

The Drive is part of my 2nd RAID 10 group (6 SAS...

We've got a client that has just moved their CRM to a new supplier. The CRM has the ability to read a users M365 mailbox and pull out communications with contacts listed in the CRM.

Our client is on 365 and all looks fine. The problem is that one user's account won't read their mailbox. We've managed to get the following error trace from the CRMs dev team:

Exchange 2010 not sending to one domain

Hi, I have a bit of a weird issue. I can send an email out to this one particular domain with no issues, they can reply and i can receive it fine. Others within the company can also send and recieve fine from this company. The domain name for the company that we send to has a .enterprises domain name. though that shouldnt matter, as I and others can send to it fine.

The issue begins when our system sends out scheduled emails to customers, it is able to send to all others fine, but this particular domain it does now send to.

I have checked withGet-MessageTrackingLog, and that does show me that email was sent, i have an eventid of Receive and send. yet the customer does not receive the message.

What else can i check to see if the email is getting blocked or stuck down the line. we do use cloud smarthost service. I have checked that and dont...


Exchange 2010 to 2013 migration mailbox won't migrate

I have  and instance of exchange 2010 and am migrating mailboxes to 2013. A handful refuse to move. I have bounced services and cleared migration requests but no joy. No errors are produced no log is written.

What we have: Single physical 2010 On-Premise Exchange Server with approx 160 mailboxes and a few Public Folder Calendars.

Many moons ago I started a swing migration from 2010 to a new hardware based 2013 standalone setup. I got as far as moving my own mailbox over to the 2013 machine for testing before mass migration, and the project stalled there. Everything has been running fine (except performance could be better perhaps).

We didn't want to move to cloud at that time and obviously Covid has further stained any capital projects. I do have suitable hardware available. We are very basic users of the platform, but now that most workers are remote and likely going to stay that way, I would consider any remote worker enhancements a bonus.

I'm seeking advice on moving this project forward and listening to anyone that has been down this...

User unable to Send As

Dear Spiceheads

Exchange 2010 / Outlook 365. I have a user who managed four other mailboxes. She is set up with Full Access and Send As permissions, but there is one of the four mailboxes that doesn't allow her to Send As. She gets the bounce back with the error message "You can't send a message on behalf of this user unless you have permission to do so."
Any ideas?? I'm lost.

Allow some users to book room without delegate approval?

Hello,

We're using O365 and we're going to change one of our conference rooms to no longer automatically accept or decline booking requests. We want all meeting requests for this room to go through the executive assistant. Fair enough - add that person as a booking delegate who can accept/reject requests and we're done. However, my manager wants to know if there is a way to allow one or two certain employees to automatically book rooms without going through the booking delegate. Adding them as booking delegates will not work because we do NOT want them to receive the booking requests from all other employees. 

Does anyone know if that is possible?

Outlook Addin Failing in install

I am trying to install an an addin.  Outlook 2019, Exchange 2013.

I have only installed actual .exe type of addins so far.
I log in to what I need and then at the actual install part, it fails:

error
The app couldn't be downloaded.

Might this be blocked on the Exchange side somehow?
