Yahoo temporarily deferred due to user complaints

Hi,

We have our own Exchange server 2016. We've encountered this issue "Temporarily deferred due to user complaints" from Yahoo!. This issue occurs only for those yahoo users. Its been months now and we are still having an issue with Yahoo users. Any way to solve this?

stop setup emails using office outlook

I am using Office365, is there a way to force staff to use only Outlook on the web by disabling the sync to office outlook software from Exchange?

Editing EdgeTransport.exe.config on Exchange 2010

Hello,

I need to make some changes to the EdgeTransport.exe.config to change the ExpansionSizeLimit to limit the number of recipients. The environment that I am working on has two CAS servers setup for load balancing and two MBX servers setup for failover. From what I understand, the EdgeTransport.exe.config will need to be modify on each CAS and the transport service restart. Would that be correct? Also, what would be the best way to verify that the new ExpansionSizeLimit has been applied on the Exchange side.For example, we want to ensure that the maximum number of recipient for an email has to be 99, and if the number of recipients is any higher, a new email(s) should be created with the rest of the recipients.

what is Exchange Certificate installation procedure and error on edge ?

Hi All,

we have 2 exchange mailbox server and 1 edge server, our certificate will expire soon. so i need to generate CSR to complete the process, as per online procedure i can generate CSR from Mailbox server and install on same server what about secondary mailbox server should i do same procedure on secondary server. and what about Edge certificate which is also going to expire. i dont know that i should install digicert certificate on all servers or only Mailbox one.
currently exchange edge server has an errors.
- STARTTLS certificate will expire soon       Event ID 12018
- Internal transport certificate will expire soon   Event ID 12017 
Kindly assist.

How to change email address at top of Outlook folder list

See the attached picture (of my Otlook for reference). One of the service desk people created a new AD account and Email address (Im assuming in exchange 365 control panel) They spelled this ladies name wrong. So Ive fixed everything except this. The UPN in AD, target address, SIP address SMTP address, created a new profile locally, etc etc

How the hell do i change this thing????

I have an issue updating the global address list on an exchange 2016 server. This is the warnings I get:

Ongoing savings moving emails to Microsoft 365 from on premise Exchange 2013

I've been asked what (if any) ongoing savings there will be after moving emails to Microsoft 365.
Our on premise Exchange vm is one of 30 in the cluster so removing one doesn't really save anything.
There is the support if using external support.
There is also the upkeep of the hardware which will need periodically upgrading but I will need to do this with or without the Exchange vm.
Exchange uses a lot of RAM but again I cannot turn that into a cost saving.

Has anybody gone through this process justifying migrating from on-premise to 365?

We are all Microsoft servers here and currently limited to Server 2012 as that is what the hosts are running.

Any help appreciated.

Outlook Client For Windows will not connect

Hi all, having some difficulty with outlook trying to connect to my exchange server externally. I am getting the following message 
Microsoft Outlook
---------------------------
Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. The attempt to log on to Microsoft Exchange has failed.

This only happens with the outlook client on Windows, I have successfully connected to the exchange server on IOS outlook client as well as the mail app so I am guessing something to do with Windows. I have removed profile from the mail settings in control panel and added a new one but this still persists.


Microsoft 365 email protection

Emails in Microsoft 365 can be protected with in-built Microsoft tools but are they generally good enough or should I be looking at third party services?

We have around 65 mailboxes and on-premise Exchange 2013.
Emails currently go through a Barracuda device for spam/anti-virus filtering.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Hello All,

I created two new users near the end of may. I created a mailbox for them around that time as well. Recently the manager at one of the sites I work at is saying that she can see the two new users that I created after she clicks the "to" button when sending an email but two other supervisors who work there cant find them in the global address list. I wanted to know if anyone had any ideas on this?

It has been past 48 hours which would be the time for the address book to be updated.

Powershell search and delete slow

Last month we upgrade our on-prem Exchange 2019 system to CU5 and it isn't often that I do a search and delete messages from mailboxes but the couple of times that I've had to do it since this upgrade I've found that it goes very slow. I am running the following command from my exchange powershell:

Get-Mailbox-ResultSizeunlimited|Search-Mailbox-SearchQuery{From:[address]andReceived:[date]}-EstimateResultOnly/DeleteContent

Prior to the upgrade (CU1) I could set off the command and within seconds I'd see the progress header overlay pop up and start to move and when done it would return to a prompt. I generally run the Estimate before the Delete to make sure that spot checks show the same mailboxes that I find in my GUI search.

Now since the CU5 upgrade I hit Enter after the command and it can be minutes before it...

Certain Meetings Do Not Show in Scheduling Assistant

We have a hybrid setup but use Exchange Online for email. Everyone is using Outlook 2016 via Office 365 subscriptions. 

I have one user (let's call him A) whose meetings do not always show up in scheduling assistant in Outlook. For example, I know from a conversation with A that he has a meeting with B at 3pm on Wednesday. If I create a meeting with A and B as attendees, and look in scheduling assistant, I can see the 3pm Wednesday meeting on B's calendar, but not on A's. A has verified that he accepted the meeting.

I've looked at their permissions server-side via Exchange Online Powershell and they look fine. Does anyone know what could be going wrong here?

Migrating email from godaddy to microsoft exchange online

I am defederating my email domain from godaddy to microsoft directly to have full access and functionality in the admin centers. As far as i can tell, I have to backup to a .pst file on each users outlook desktop app. This is a pain but I only am moving about 50 users.  Has anyone had any luck with any of the migration services that thirdparty companies are offering online? 

I would love to find a solution that doesn't force me to have access to each and every instance of outlook.

Also, does anyone happen to know how users oneNote files are handled throughout this? Will they be lost or do they reside on a seperate file server that will remain intact once I get back to microsoft.

Singe Exchange mailbox not receiving new mail in Outlook

We have one user who can see incoming emails coming into their phone instantly, but Outlook either never updates automatically or takes 30-60 minutes.

I tried a bunch of things on their laptop. Delete and recreate Outlook profile. Turn off Outlook Addins. Disconnected a PST archive. Even Uninstalled O2013 and upgraded to O2016. None of that worked. So finally I switched them to a different laptop today. The problem has persisted to the new laptop. The user's profile was setup fresh on this new laptop and the laptop was imaged less than a month ago. When mail has arrived to the phone or OWA but not Outlook, you can press the Update Folder button in Outlook and mail will come in. Or close/reopen Outlook.

So it seems like it could be a mailbox/exchange issue. But no other users are having this problem.

Company has been using Outlook Public Folder for company-wide calendar for YEARS

I inherited an on-prem Exchange server hosting tons of Public Folders for contacts and emails and other documents. Also in there is called their "Master Calendar", which has been used for many MANY years. Before being cached, it can take up to 5 minutes to download before displaying the calendar.

We migrated to O365, everything including the Public Folders is there now. It's great, but the company is addicted to this damn thing. If you want to schedule a meeting, you have to check their personal calendar, AND the Public Folder calendar to see if someone's available. Also, you need to remember to put yourself there just in case.

Some problems with this is speed: it's very slow to load even cached, and online accessibility: Public Folders are not available in web or iOS.

PST import to shared mailbox failure

Hi,

I'm hoping for some guidance. I'm having an issue using the PST import file in O365.

I'm trying to import a bunch of PST files into shared mailboxes, I've successfully uploaded the files to azure blob storage and the file validation of the PST works.

However, the process fails with the error "Please create a primary and archive mailbox for user@consteo.com". I can log into the shared mailbox in Outlook and import them that way, however the upload is very slow and I have 50GB of PST files to upload.

Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated. Note the shared mailboxes are unlicensed, although my understanding is as long as the users are it should be fine?

Exchange Logs + Mails Missing

Hi All,

Random issues caused random problems on ESXI 6.7 and ESXI 5.5 hosts and their virtual machines. After a few struggles we got the servers up and running. We have 1 problem left. MS Exchange 2007 - on Windows Server 2008.

Because the servers were offline/online so randomly during the recovery/restoring processes we have a rather big gap in the log files - 3 DAYS missing log files. This mean the users have 3 days worth of very important emails missing from their mailboxes.

How can this be found and recovered or is there simply no way? Please help me with solving this issues.

Exchange 2013. Added a mail db between backup & now. Problem?

Long story short. I have a bad exchange 2013 VM. I can get into it. We're send/receive just fine, but we can't do any backups unrelated to this question.

I restored a backup from a week or two ago. What I was thinking was to simply take the mailbox folders from the current box and overwrite the old ones. As far as I can tell, that will work fine.

HOWEVER. Since the backup I created another mail database and migrated around 8 mailboxes to it. When I tried to migrate them back they "completed" but absolutely nothing was done (perhaps that's another question but I'll wait to see what you guys think of this one).

What I'm afraid of is, sure, 145 mail users should be fine. But 6 mailboxes (mine included) will be lost forever? I mean, I can easily re-add the 2nd mail db to the recovered server but will Exchange be smart enough to say "oh, hey,...
