DKIM Question

$

Sorry if this is a rookie question, but I'm a rookie at email. I just haven't been able to find an answer to my question.

Our marketing department is implementing Pardot, which is part of Salesforce and does email marketing campaigns. We're running Exchange 2010 on-prem behind a McAfee email gateway. I need to add a SPF record (looks easy enough) and a DKIM record for their servers to send as my domain.

What I'm worried about is that we don't currently have SPF or DKIM set up. Will having a DKIM record for only Pardot's servers cause any issues delivering mail to other domains?I'll add a SPF record for our server, so that shouldn't be a problem. Best I can tell I'd have to set the McAfee up to sign the messages, but it's EOL soon so I don't want to put much into it (and we didn't renew support for it this year).

Any help would be...

How to require Exchange 2013 to have peripheral devices authenticate send emails

$

Hi All,

I'm wondering how my network devices such as printers are able to send me email from within my organization (same subnet) without going through my on-premise Exchange 2013 server. I was troubleshooting my phone system when I realized it was bypassing or not using the AD service account I created it use.

The interesting thing is that when I look at the properties, it looks as though it in fact is going through my Exchange server but I can't track it through delivery reports. Is there another way to track these emails? And how can I require these devices to use the AD accounts to send emails?

Thanks!

Exchange send locally

Hello,

I have 2 Exchange servers on my LAN on different subnet but can reach each other via the default gateway which is the firewall and they are with 2 different domains abc.com and xyz.com behind the same firewall(Stormshield) and using the same antispam (SpamTitan).

They send and receive from any domain except each other due to the firewall seeing it as spoofing most probably. But I want them to be able to send each other via the LAN what are the steps to be taken and any settings must be done on my firewall?

Thanks

Exchange 2013 - MailTool Tip When Sending to Personal Domain

Hi All,

I am looking for a little bit of advice, we want to setup an mail tooltip, which when a user enters either @hotmail.com or any other personal email domain, that it reminds the user that they are sending to an external domain?

Is this possible, I have looked at mail flow rules, using 'the recipients domain is' X.. I get the below error?

One of the conditions you specified can't be used for rules where you want to notify the sender. Error details: The NotifySender action isn't compatible with 'RecipientDomainIs' predicate.

Any ideas, would be greatly appreciated!

Free Busy isse from On-prem to Office 365 Resources

Hi All,

I am in a process of migrating exchange 2010 to O365 in a hybrid mode. All is going OK with few small issues.

One of it is on prem users are unable to see the free busy status for O365 resources. They can see the free/busy but not who(which user) has booked the resource.

O365 users can see this information tho. I have gone through this articlehttps://cloudiffic.com/free-busy-not-working-office365-onpremise/and microsoft checks and looks normal.

My question is if I stamped the TargetSharingEPR attribute in Organizational Relationship (Exchange Online) to point to the externally published EWS url, say https://mail.domain.com/ews/exchange.asmx using the following command:

Set-organizationrelationship -TargetSharingEPr https://mail.domain.com/ews/exchange.asmx

Would it harm anything, and what would be the command to remove this if...

Outlook 2016 Rules - Retention Policy

Looking to create a local rule within Outlook 2016 to create a retention policy for a single user.

I can create the rule to criteria to say X Y Z no problem and then in the action section I can say 'apply retention policy' but then when I click on that I just get asked to 'select the retention policy and click apply' but obviously there are none there to be selected...

When I say 'Add or remove retention policy' I just get directed to the OWA login screen.

Obviously I know I need to create the retention policy before I can apply it to this rule, but can anyone tell me how I go about it?

Much appreciated!

SMTP not reaching office 365

So we have an on-premise exchange server that we use for enabling remote mail boxes and anonymous relay of smtp emails.

This was all working perfectly fine until this Monday where we returned from the weekend and it has stopped functioning.

Now as far as I can tell, nothing has changed and using wire shark and monitoring the queue viewer, I can see SMTP traffic come in and successfully be relayed out, I can then confirm that I can see this traffic leaving the firewall to the wider internet.

I didn't set this up originally so I am picking up the pieces of people long gone who got contractors to set this up when we migrated to office 365. I checked the Microsoft documentation and everything seems to be set up correctly to work.

Am I missing anything that will make this work? Am I a big dum dum and need to do something obvious?

Hello,

I am having trouble emailing one company but have noticed this error in our SMTPSend logs for others too. I have checked both of our servers with SSLLabs and we've got matching ciphers listed.

Any direction or assistance will be greatly appreciated! I'm still very new to managing Exchange and we are still on 2010 for a few more months.

I created a mail universal distribution group and added some members to it for one of our customers.  I gave it a SMTP address to use and everything seems to be correct.  If we send an email to the list in house everyone received the email.  If I send an email from outside the firewall I get the following message

host x.x.x.x <- removed actual address for security
SMTP error from remote mail server after RCPT TO:<user@domain.com>:

I am on Exchange 2010 SP1 with an active directory level of 2016

Any help would be appreciated

In the image below, it should say the employee's name. The image placeholder has his initials correct.

powershell convert mailbox permission to string

I have Exchange 2010 mailboxes with distribution groups having full access to the mailbox.  I want to get a list of the distribution group managers of the groups that have access to the mailboxes.  When I run something like

$z = get-mailboxpermission -identity xxx |where {$_.accessrights -like "*fullaccess*"}  it returns a value that represents the permission, not the actual object having the permission.

i've tried $z = get-mailboxpermission -identity xxx |where {$_.accessrights -like "*fullaccess*"} |select user also and got similar results.

but if i then try to run get-distributiongroup $z, I get an error indicating $z is not the correct data type that get-distributiongroup is expecting.

How can I convert $z to something that get-distributiongroup will understand?

Hi all and I will try to be detailed and brief I can be. new to Exchange, although have been doing a lot of reading and video watching.

I am running Exchange internet facing on Win 2012 Data system. ( I know best practice is not to have exchange on same box as domain controller etc.

Have set up DC DNS and DHCP and a Static IP number,.

In the past before I set up this new system, ex IT person had a external smart host, hosting our email and web site, This I wanted to change.

We have a registered paid domain name with MX record.

That External smart host is still using our MX record of 10 and 9, yet under our account with them, I can only find one MX record to change. the one with the 10 value.

Domain is pmassociates.com.au

This is where I need some advice / help, As I get no emails or any I send from within our exchange fails.

This is details...

best practice: Exchange attachment size

$

Exchange 2013 cu21

we have a standard attachment size limit of 10MB. from time to time, users would find a way to have it increased to 15MB, 25MB, 30MB for one reason or another. since there was a precedent, those in the know would make a request to increase their attachment sizes just coz the other guy have higher limit than them.

i'm wondering, to put a stop on this trend, is there some kind of best practice when it comes to attachment sizes and/or sending big files via email? like performance issues and such.

Hallo , I have Exchange 2010 from 4 years working flawlessly. When migrating from the old Exchange 2007 the old stuff didn't uninstalled it , just turned it off after ensured clients are looking to new and, boxes are migrated. The servers are with different addresses and names in the AD lets say it server1 and server2. The machine is present and i decided to turn it on but cant enter with domain admin or other account except local admin , because i think its for the 4 years away from power and network and the computer account should to be reset in order to be able to log in.Can you give me advice is it safe to reset its account and then how properly delete databases + uninstall Exchange without messing my other working Exchange or what should i care during that procedure.

You are not responding to the latest message in this conversation

Hey,

Scenario:

User A goes to reply to an email, whilst replying they are met with the message "you are not responding to the latest message in this conversation". When they open the related message they can view an email that was a reply to the same email, but sent by User B.

Any idea how they can view another users sent email? The original email was sent to a distribution group, my original thinking was they could view the sent item email from a shared mailbox. No luck.

I've checked permissions too, and the user has never had or doesn't currently have any access to user B's mailbox.

I have no idea how to describe this issue with Outlook in one sentence...

Okay... so let's take it from the top.

Our company has 3 brands, each with their own social media accounts, and customer service accounts. That being said, each brand has a shared email account for social media and customer service.

Due to some changes made by administration... one person was made in charge of ALL of these shared email accounts, and they added all of them to their Outlook.

Here's where it gets fun.

After adding all accounts, they are listed in Outlook, along with a separate shared folder for each. In total, 11 new objects are added.

support@brandone.com adds not only an object for itself, but also adds a BrandOne - Support object. Now attempting to open support@brandone.com causes an error to pop...
