Occasional problem with mail delivery in outlook / Exchange 2013

I noticed a http pool service MSExchangeRpcProxyAppPool being stopped or crashing. Can this be the cause of occasional mails that were sent not being delivered to recipients?

Message in event viewer was "A worker process '45184' serving application pool 'MSExchangeRpcProxyAppPool' failed to stop a listener channel for protocol 'http' in the allotted time.  The data field contains the error number."

How to build a new Exchange 2013 mailbox database from recovered pst files

Hello,

My client's exchange server ran out of space and corrupted the edb.  None of the eseutils worked so I used Stellar Phoenix Exchange recovery tool to read the edb and extract the pst files.  Now I want to create a new edb and import the PSTs.  I have a new edb created but cannot figure out how to populate it or import the psts and have the users' profile point to the new database.

I hope this makes sense since I am not an exchange expert

Currently, my client's company has been without email for 18 hours now so any quick answers are much appreciated.

Thank you

Webmail opens mailbox of another user by itself?

Hi,

We have a bizar issue:

- User A opens webmail on Computer A and gets to see his own mailbox.

- User B opens webmail on Computer B and gets to see the mailbox of User A. When they try to send a new e-mail then there is a message saying they are not authorized to perform this action.

This is a serious privacy issue and also very strange because in Exchange no delegate permissions have been set for either user A or B

Distribution Lists missing from GAL after segmentation

Hello all,

I recently followed the tutorial hereto setup GAL segmentation on my Exchange tennant after setting up a secondary domain. All is working well except that I can no longer see distributions lists in the GAL either online or in the Outlook client. I have made sure to add the custom attribute used for segmentation to the distribution lists but they still are not visible. Does anyone see anything glaring in this tutorial that would cause this issue? Let me know if you need any more info to help. Thank you in advance.

I have a rather old Microsoft Exchange server that I know almost nothing about.  I assume there are some maintenance routines I should run but I have no clue what they are and   /  or at this point in time would they do more harm than good?

Disk requirements for replacement exchange 2013 server

We are are a single site, single domain with 70 users. We still run our servers in house. I have a dedicated server running Exhange 2010. It's a Dell Powerdge T430 with 32GB RAM and 5 SAS disks on a single H710 controller card. One channel runs 2 x 136GB disks in a RAID 1 array that contains the OS, exchange program files and the logs. The other channel runs 3 x 300GB disks in a RAID 5 array that contains the information store.

The server is 4 years old now and i am planning to replace it in the next few weeks. When i get the new server i will be moving to exchange 2013. Why not Exchange 2016 i hear you ask? We only have CALS for 2013 and as this is probably the last exchange server we will have in house before moving over to the cloud it doesn't make sense to upgrade the licences.

I would appreciate some advice on the disk configuration...

CU20 on Exchange 2013 failed on Transport service.

OK my Exchange server transport service stopped working. After some trouble shooting the Microsoft Filtering and Management service was not running as well I tried to disable the filtering service via powershell it stated it was disabled and I rebooted. The transport service will still not run error code 1068 still point to the filtering service not running . After some more research I found a few threads that stated if I apply a CU update it will refresh and fix the Transport and Filtering issues as it installs the "new" files. So on Step 9 of the CU the transport service fails with this error.

Address Book set up in Hybrid Environment

Hi,

I work in education and we have a hybrid exchange system with exchange 2016 on-prem and O365 in the cloud.

I am looking to see if I can do the following:

turn off the GAL

set up a student AL

set up a "non-student" AL that basically has everyone in it that is not identified as a student

Allocate users so that they can see one or other or both of the AL's

Is this possible?

we sync between AD and 365 so could use a field in AD as a filter if necessary.

NDR - how it works?

hi all

just for a deep understanding on how ndr notifications (messages) works

i know about the error codes and the purpose of the messages.

i try to understand how it proccess - my logic / best of my understanding is that the server is the one that create and send the messages for the client, is that the way it works?

my question came from real case scenario..were i was asked to disable NDRmessagesabout "full mailbox".

when sender send email to recipient with a full mailbox - he get NDR response back with the relevant error code ( and notification) ....
someone recomannd me to give the mailboxes "prohibit send quota"limit as workaround for disabling the ability of the user to send NDR back to the sendr.( but i dont think the user is the one who send the message - just need to clerifay that)

afcourse its not working (and i have the qouata to...

New Exchange 2016 with iPhones and iPads

Single Windows Server 2016 with Exchange 2016 installed. Split DNS is setup and looks to be functioning fine. MS Connectivity Analyzer passes everything. We do have our web site hosted elsewhere and there is a redirect pointing /autodiscover to the exchange server. I can't find any settings on the server to prevent logging in. The server has a wildcard certificate for now but I'm considering going with SAN cert if needed. We are using mail.ourextdomain.com and autodiscover.ourextdomain.com.

Everything except iPhones and iPads seem to work fine inside and outside the network. iPhone stock email app seems to connect and verify but fails to update the inbox and produces a message "Cannot Send Mail, The message was rejected by the server". When looking at the inbox there is an account error at the bottom. Tapping on the details link...

Autodiscover to https://domain/api starting

I have a local installation of Exchange 2016 Server with 4 child domains, each with its own Exchange 2016 Server.

When using the "Test Email Configuration" tool on any Outlook client machine, it shows a non-standard connection. The version of Outlook (2010, 2013, 2016) does not make a difference. This is what I see.

.

Autodiscover to https://server.childdomain.domain.com/api starting

GetLastError=2147954407; httpStatus=0

Autodiscover to https://server.domain.com/api Failed (0x80070057)

Autodiscover to https://domain.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml starting

.

Then continues as expected.

.

My question is "Why is Autodiscover calling to the Exchange Backend API folder at all?"

I am sure once I get THAT taken care of the fact an Exchange 2016 Server in a child domain will be a non-issue.

Thanks in advance.

Exchange 2010

Server 2008R2 STD

Clients from Outlook 2003-2013

At regular intervals, Outlook is losing it's connection with the Exchange server on all tested PC's on the domain.

The event viewer shows multiple event ID26 occurring. Outlook will lose the connection and then regain it. This is causing some rather major issues with my setup as I have several machines that rely on Exchange connectivity in order to run certain jobs over night. When the connection is lost, so is the ability of these jobs (which run pretty much all night) to perform their functions.

I've looked all over and cannot find anything specific to my issue, as such I'm here looking for some guidance in resolving this issue. Planning on nuking my Sunday to work on this and try to get to the bottom of the problem so any assistance is quite welcome.

OST not matching 365 file size

I have an odd one.

TheOutlook Data File (.ost) is x10 time larger than it should be. And I don't know why.

If I open the clients email on remote desktop where his emails are setup in outlook his OST shows 44GB in size.

However online it is showing as only 5.18GB

It keeps growing too. it was as big as 48GB and he was getting the out of space messages.

I have of course recreated the outlook profile mulit times.

I have tried only 1 month and 3 month cache. Same issue it just comes back HUGE!

I am downloading the profile to my computer at the moment to see if I get the same issue.

Environment is Server 2012 R2.

Attached are a few pics.

Exch 2007 to O365 cutover questions

$

I'm moving my church from its on-prem Exch 2007 server, to O365. I've been using this document as my guide-https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/canitpro/2013/11/19/step-by-step-migrating-from-exchange-2007-to... as well as the one that's in the Office Portal-https://portal.office.com/onboarding/Office365SetupCutoverMigration#/

I had to get our SSL cert fixed, and when I run the "test connection" in New Endpoint setup, with a little tweaking, I can make it pass successfully.

That's the step that I'm at now, and my question is, is there a way I can migrate a test mailbox, without having to commit to migrating the whole organization right this second? I just don't want to start the migration, and have something break, and be under the gun to get it immediately resolved while meantime the church is without email until I do. I feel like I'm...
