I tried to install KB 3087126, which failed and subsequently set all my Exchange and IIS services to disabled.
I found a script that bulk enables everything, but it also enables services that aren't set to Automatic by default. eg POP and IMAP
Does anyone have a link or a screenshot of the default states (Automatic, Manual, Disabled) for Exchange 2013 services? I found one for 2010, but not 2013
Hi Guys
I have users that use android / ios phones with the activesync email account to send and receive emails.
intermittently and i have experienced it myself the emails will just fail to send. they do eventually send after multiple re sends or waiting for a period of time.
my problem is i don't really know where to start to look to diagnose the problem.
my exchange environment consists of 3 exchange servers at the moment but once upon a time i believe 4 servers were in place. Now i know the autodiscover a record for this 4th server still exists tho the ip which it points to will now be dead, could this be a cause of the problem? im not 100% sure i assumed that the autodisocver record would only affect my clients when first setting up accounts not sending email.
I know its a little vague on the information but again really i don't know...
OST file of one of our employees got corrupt and she is unable to access her emails. She has tried every possible way including recreating her profile but with no success. I have decided to convert the corresponding EDB file to PST, which she can import back to her Outlook.
How I can export exchange 2007 mailboxes to outlook importable PST file quickly as I want the PST on urgent basis?
PC: windows 8.1, office 2007 sp3
Server: Ws2k8r2, exchange 2010
I connected the outlook to exchange mailbox. for a long time it was stuck on "outlook is trying to retrieve information from exchange...",
Now since 4 hours it is "connected to exchange" and "waiting to update this folder"
I tried accessing that particular mailbox via OWA, i cannot connect to that mailbox, but i can access other mailboxes through OWA.
on that same PC i configured another mailbox (with another profile) and it works.
Is it possible that "that" mailbox is corrupt?

We have a customer with Exchange 2010, and we just replaced and update their SSL certificate. When I view the certificates in Exchange, it is the only one not self signed, and it is the one presented when I access the exchange server internally (or over their VPN at another site). When I access the site from the web, it presents me a certificate that expired in April, which the one that expired and we had replaced just expired a few days ago, I checked the bindings and everything seems to look right, but I am at a loss as to where this cert is being presented from. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I have around 10-15 disabled users and for varying reasons I have not received permission to delete the email accounts, so they are showing up in the GAL, which just confuses and irritates some people.
I know I can go into each user and select hide from GAL, but I was trying to run this powershell command, it ran without error, but the accounts still show up
Get-Mailbox -ResultSize unlimited |Where{($_.UserAccountControl -like “AccountDisabled*”)} | set-mailbox -HiddenFromAddressListsEnabled $true
looks like this command is not compatible with exchange 2013, is there another way to do this, or is it just I will have to select 'hide from GAL' whenever I disable a user account?
I have one user who gets multiple copies (2-3) of all emails sent to a distribution group they are on. I have checked the group, and her address is only on there once. Noone else on the list is having this problem.
There are no nested groups in this list, and she only has the one email address tied to her outlook profile.
We are using Outlook 2007 and Exchange 2010.
I have no idea what else to try. Any help would be appreciated.
Hello all. I have a hosted Exchange 2010 server running for my small business on a Small Business Server 2011 box.
I have configured the Exchange server for spam blocking, however there is way too many getting through to each mailbox. It's in the hundreds a day, and it is getting really ridiculous. I have followed the tutorials on how to set it up to ensure I didn't miss anything.
What I'm wondering is, what software or services do you guys use or recommend for filtering spam in an effective way. It is getting crazy
Edit: I should also note that legitimate e-mails from google or other trusted domains get blocked occasionally, but tons of spam seems to find its way in.
We recently migrated from 2010 to 2013. Some mailboxes were quarantined on the move. I thought it had something to do with the migration. Now some are just being quarantined randomly. When the box is quarantined people get an ndr that says:
"Remote Server returned '550 5.7.9 STOREDRV.Deliver; Recipient mailbox quarantined.; STOREDRV.Deliver.Exception:StorageTransientException.MapiExceptionMailboxQuarantined; Failed to process message due to a permanent exception with message Cannot open mailbox"
Does anybody know how to turn this "feature" off? Our CEO has been quarantined a couple of times and so has our VP of Marketing. I don't think they like it..
Hi all, was hoping I could get a bit of help here. Our ISP has been having issues lately causing our network to not work for hours at a time during the day. To fix this, we picked up a second ISP. I configured our firewall to fail over to the second ISP if main ISP goes down. Everything seems to work except our e-mail. Sending to folks outside our network results in an undeliverable message while sending to people in house gets no error, the e-mails just sit there and send when I bring the main connection back up.
Obviously I'm missing something but don't know what. I'm hoping you guys can help poke and prod me until I can get this to work! :)
Hi IT-Admins,
Two days ago, our OWA stopped working randomly. As a new IT Admin, I worked on trying to understand the problem and what was wrong. Errors indicated that an IIS site-service was down. After exhausting all solutions I knew and on the internet, I asked my boss to call-in a consultant.
Now we live in a small town. We paid $100/hour to the consultant- who took almost 3 hours to finally find a solution. I found the Consultant to be knowledgeable and open to answering my questions. I really appreciated that.
However, I fear I might need him again since anything could do down randomly and if I am unable to solve it and have to go to my boss, he might question why I am being paid.
Anyways, how do you handle such issues? Are there budget-limits when you were ever denied hiring a consultant. Maybe I haven't been around MS systems long...
So I created dynamic signatures but when I reply to someone my signatures are always added to the bottom of the e-mails. So with 1 reply for instance I would have two signatures at the bottom so on and so forth. Is there a way to format this as it would normally be seen if you added your own signature manually?
This has been happening for a few days now. Users will email the room mailbox to request a meeting be scheduled on that room's calendar. I can see that every room is receiving these emails and the meetings are even being listed as tentative, as per the room's settings, but the Resource Booking Attendant isn't processing these emails.
I can't think of any changes made to either the DCs or Exchange server during that time, including updates. Yesterday morning it processed one request at 3:00:07 AM, another at 3:03:50 AM, and another at 5:27:29 AM. I couldn't find any other events in the viewer at 3:00 AM that may have triggered this.
- I've tried restarting the MSExchangeMailboxAssistants service on the Exchange server
- I restarted the Exchange server
- I confirmed that all of the room mailboxes are AutoAccepting
- I confirmed the Resource...
Hello
I have Exchange 2010 server that is being used to temporarily hold mailboxes. After a reboot the .edb file went from 276gb to 0kb. Of course i haven't even taken a full backup of the server yet. So now I have 276gb worth of log files but a 0kb EDB. I have tried using eseutil without any luck. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!
I replaced our Exchange 2010 SSL certificate with another containing the following names:
mail.ourdomain.org
autodiscover.ourdomain.org
Our internal DNS has A records with mail.ourdomain.org and autodiscover.ourdomain.org pointing to internal IP of mail server. I've configured the following URL's as well
AutodiscoverServiceInternalURL to https://mail.ourdomain.org/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
OABVirtualDirectory to https://mail.ourdomain.org/oab
WebServicesVirtualDirectory to https://mail.ourdomain.org/ews/exchange.asmx
ActiveSyncVirtualDirectory to https://mail.ourdomain.org/Microsoft-server-activesync
OWAVirtualDirectory to https://mail.ourdomain.org/owa
ECPVirtualDirectory to https://mail.ourdomain.org/ecp
For some reason, some of my Outlook 2010/2013 users are still getting a security warning: "The name on the security certificate is...
A little background.
In the past, one of my clients had business class internet from Comcast with a non-static IP address. They have their own email/web server using SBS2011 Standard. When ever their IP address changed, I would just go into GoDaddy and update their DNS record to match their IP address, everything worked just fine.
Well recently I finally talked them into getting a static IP from Comcast. They can do everything they normally would do except send email to outside addresses. They can receive email with no problem. I am thinking this is a Comcast issue because of the bounce back message that they get and that it started when changing to static. Below is a copy of the bounce back message. Again, this DID NOT start until upgrading to a static IP address. I have checked to make sure that the IP address is not black listed.

While migrating a mailbox between exchange servers (moving a mailbox from exchange 2003 to exchange 2010) what is the courrupted item limit I can specify?
All-
I am looking into my OWA setup to see who is logging into remote email. I have found a few items on google, but nothing solid.
Can my SpiceHeads clear this one up?
Morning Team,
I am facing the most intriguing issues so far that i had to experience in outlook 2010. Anyhow when a user tries to delete, move or simply clicks on the cancellation or accepted meeting notification (shared calendar with full permission, delegated) it does crashes outlook and forces it close and reopen it.
I have deleted the ost, recreated profile, disabled add-on, did safe mode test and still having the same behavior. Can any body please have any suggestions how to solve such weird behavior? Any advise will be really appreciated.
