Dirty Shutdown - Repair or Reseed?

$

I have a 3 node Exchange 2010 DAG (2 servers in production, 1 in DR). Each mailbox database has 3 copies (2 in production, 1 in DR). Backup Exec takes a backup from the passive copy in production however this has failed due to dirty shutdown. We cannot take a backup from DR at the moment, so my question is can I just reseed the passive copy in production or should I attempt to repair the database?

Thanks in advance.

Has anyone had any success with SSO with on-premise Hosted Exchange Servers?

We are looking to deploy this and don't find much information online to complete.

Was following another thread but it seemed to have dropped off.

Any leads would be great on this issue.

Thanks,

Problem with Certificates in Outlook 2013 after installing Exchange 2013

I have installed Exchange 2013. I have a certificate for OWA to work and it is all working fine. The problem I have is that Outlook is coming up with Invalid certificate errors. One I recognise as being the valid certificate we hold but the other is showing a domain name that we do not have here. It belongs to another company!

How do I resolve these issues please?

Exchange server 2010 failing to receive some emails from Gmail

Hi,

I have the following scenario on the network I work on now:

Cloud: Google apps account configured to forward emails to Exchange server

In-house: Exchange 2010, 1 Edge server, 1 CAS/HT/MB server

The Exchange is configured to send emails to Google apps by an internal relay domain settings and a send connector that uses smtp-relay.gmail.com to send emails through Google servers...

MX records have been changed to Google Apps, so the basic mail flow is like this:

Internet mail - Google apps - Exchange server

Local mail - Exchange server -

- If user exists on Exchange, deliver in Exchange

- If user not on Exchange, use smarthost to relay mail to Google

My issue is when I try to receive on Exchange, it is happening randomly, and I have not found any common base for it

When users from Google try to send to users on Exchange, their emails don't get...

get distribution groups to which an external contact belongs

Hello guys,

can't figure out the following problem:

We have a public folder in exchange 2010 with all of our contacts inside.  There are also a lot of groups / distribution list inside these folder.  All users can view the address book with external contacts by using outlook 2007.

I would like to find out how I can retrieve all groups to which a certain contact belongs.

To be clear, these contacts do not belong to our domain.

I can't find a way by doing it with powershell or even gui.

Thanks in advance!

Exchange 2010 OWA

Hey Everyone,

Question about Exchange 2010 OWA

If I connect to OWA within the (domain) network I cannot see the option to share a calendar

If I connect to OWA outside of the network I have the option to share a calendar

Why is that?

What is the best way to share a calendar?

So, I'm on Exchange 2013 and Outlook 2010.  Currently, I have an account created that I have a bunch of Calendars setup within it, then I simply, "manually" share it out to uses by sending them an email.

What other options do I have to automatically do this so that the Calendar could automatically show up in Outlook for a user?

Third party app sending email

Hello I am back with another Exchange 2013 question. I have a third party DMS that is hosted remotely and I need to be able to have that app send emails to both internal and external emails. I am having a terrible time configuring SMTP. Any help and guidance will be greatly appreciated.

We use ColntroNow(formerly GFI Mail Essentials) for filtering Inbound and Outbound emails if that makes a difference. Thank you in advance.

How do I trace an SMTP email through Exchange 2010?

I'm trying to follow an smtp message through my Exchange 2010 server via the logs and see if it was delivered to an inbox. I've done this with other email systems so I know it's possible. I just don't know if it's possible or which logs to search in Exchange.

What I've been able to do so far is search through my smtpReceive log and find where a particular message came in. From there, I'd like to take the identifying info from that message and follow it to through the next log(s) to confirm that it ended up in an inbox.

My questions are:

1 - which is the correct identifying info in the smtpReceive log to identify a particular message. The data in the logs seems to vary some from one email to the next.

2 - after the smtpReceive log, what logs do I use to follow the delivery of a particular message? If I don't have these particular logs, how...

Moving mailboxes to a different datastore but drive size still doesn't change...

So I'm moving mailboxes between 2 different datastores which are on two different drives in our Exchange 2010. The mailboxes are on 2 different drives on Win2008r2. However, when I move the mailboxes from drive X to drive Y I still do not see the change in the actual drive size. I moved about 15-20GB today and yet, no change is being shown...

Any idea?

Winmail.dat - again

We have an onsite self hosted exchange 2010 server. Recently my users have seen more plain text mail with the winmail.dat attachment. The same email sent to gmail displays properly. I know I can adjust my outlook clients no not employ TNEF but is there a way I can make my users' outlook properly display the messages?

Can't email meeting requests

I have a user that sets up quite a few meetings with potential clients (through Outlook). As of last week, she has been receiving mostly "Undelivereable" messages like this one:

Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups:

CEO (CEO@internaldomain.com)

The server has tried to deliver this message, without success, and has stopped trying. Please try sending this message again. If the problem continues, contact your helpdesk.

That is all she receives. She can email the contact and at least mention that their meeting is setup, but that is not ideal. It seems that it is just the invites that fail. She sent me an invite internally this morning, and it came right through. She sent the invite to my gmail account and I received nothing. She has had a few invites go through successfully, but only 1 or 2 last week, compared to about 10 that...

Mailboxes go to "disconnected mailbox" after moving to a different datastore..

I just recently noticed that mailboxes which I moved to another datastore are in the "disconnected mailbox" folder in Exchange which is usually the last station before purging them from the server. Any reason for me to be worried?
Been moving in the past couple days and nothing has been deleted but it's the first time that I noticed it so figured I'd be on the safe side and ask...
None of the ones I previously moved have been deleted so I think that I'm good but still wanted to bring it up...

Thoughts?

Exchange - Delay Sending Emails (on purpose)

$

We're looking to implement the delayed sending of emails company wide.  It's easy enough to setup a rule in Outlook, but I don't fancy configuring it for 50+ users individually.  Normally Group Policy is my go-to for this sort of thing, but there doesn't seem to be a way to set it there (Registry key push perhaps?).

Management wants the send delay to apply to all email clients across devices (not just Outlook 2013 on PCs), including phones and tablets.  So even Group Policy wouldn't really help there (or would it with ActiveSync?).  Is there a way to set a send delay on all messages that pass through out Exchange 2010 server?

Global address book and shared contacts

I have a few questions.  We're running Exchange 2010 and Office 2010.  I have an executive Assistant who is receiving shared contacts from her boss.  She would like to be able to click To: in the compose new email and be able to select a contact shared from him.  How do I get them to show up there.

Also whenever a new person is added to exchange, they are not listed in the Global Address book.  We have to go to All Users in order to see the new email added.  How can I get this to show up in the default global address book?

Android 5.1 - ActiveSync - Contacts Do Not Sync Up To Server

I have an Exchange 2007 environment. I have several Android and iPhone users syncing over ActiveSync.

One user is having an issue where his Exchange contacts sync to his phone (Android 5.1), but if he creates or edits a contact, it does not sync back up to the server.

I have recreated the account on the Android, no luck. I have verified I am syncing and displaying only the corporate account, and that the contact I am editing/creating is set to save to the Exchange account. Calendar and email sync no problem.

Ideas?

I would like to grant the Exchange Admins group full control over every users calendar in my exchange 2010 environment. This worked before we migrated users to a new database on a new database server.
