Exchange 2007 form based authentication loop issue

$

We've got Exchange 2007 running on Server 2003 (I know...) and until last week it all worked fine and users of outlook and OWA worked fine.  This week I've come back to a situation where outlook still works fine but web based access ONLY works if you set it to use basic authentication, not forms based.  When using form based authentication there are no errors displayed, just the normal login form.  On entering details and clicking login it just takes you back to the login form again.  Eventvwr doesn't appear to show any errors.  We'd like to continue with form based authentication.  I've tried googling but nothing works so far...

Any suggestions as to what to try next would be appreciated.

Thanks

Import pst into Exchange 2010 Archive

I am trying to import a pst into a users archive mailbox.  We have MS Exchange 2010 SP2

I granted rights to import mailboxes to the admin account by using this cmdlet:

New-ManagementRoleAssignment –Role "Mailbox Import Export" –User "my admin account"

I created a share where the pst file is located and gave the Exchange Trusted Subsystem full access to the share.

I ran the cmdlet New-MailboxImportRequest -Mailbox Doe,John -FilePath \\UNC\Path\file.pst    -IsArchive

I get the following error:  Cannot process argument transformation on parameter 'Mailbox'.  Cannot convert the "System.Collections.ArrayList" value of type "System.Collections.ArrayList" to type "Microsoft.Exchange.Configuration.Tasks.MailboxorMailUserIdParameter"

Any idea of what I'm doing wrong??

Distribution list, Outside Sender issue Exchange 2010

I have an Exchange 2010 box. I want a specific Domain to be able to send email to my DL.

Domain 1 has the exchange Server. Emails from Domain 2 need to be able to be send to a DL on Domain 1. The catch is, I do not want other people outside of Domain 1 being able to send to that DL.

Thanks.

An email buddy system for people who are out of the office...

The office where I work handles a lot of time sensitive requests, so there's a need for email to forward onto another person to handle requests if people are out of the office. Right now, the manager or the employee who will be out of office contacts me to inform me of their time off and I have to login to our hosted exchange and setup forwarding the day of. Does anyone know of a software/feature/process that would allow me to schedule forwarding to be active? I guess we could do something with rules but it's too bad Outlook doesn't allow you to forward while you're away.

Grant Calendar Permissions from PowerShell

Does anyone know of any negative impact to Exchange or Outlook if I use the

Add-MailboxFolderPermission command in PowerShell to grant access to a user's calendar to another user?

I know I can give permissions from the client, but the three people I need to track down are very hard to catch in the office.

Thanks.

Limited devices by serial number on ActiveSync on Exchange 2010

Hi guys,

So I know that there's a way to limit the cellphones on active sync through a model and a manufacturer but I'm going to need a bit more than that. Anybody know if I can limit phones accessibility by a serial number or even perhaps by a phone number?

Route Local Exchange Mail through External SMTP Server

We are in the process of moving from on-premise Exchange 2007 to Office 365. In Office 365, each user has a new primary email address (different domain name), and their old email address is listed as an alias. The external MX records that previously pointed to on-premise Exchange, now point to Office 365. Messages are routing properly from external senders to the alias in Office 365.

The problem is that messages sent from the on-premise Exchange accounts to internal recipients, route to the old Exchange accounts, and not to Office 365. I understand this is normal, but I would like to find a way to route those internal-sender to internal-recipient messages to Office 365. As we migrate, we need both accounts accessible to each user, but I want to stop routing new messages to the old accounts, so I have a clean cut-off point.

Cannot receive any e-mail

Dear community,

I've just setup Microsoft Exchange 2013 in a brand new domain network. Installed Office 2013 on a workstation within the domain.Everything seems to work fine, except I can't receive any mail.

When outlook starts for the first time, it auto assigned the users mail account based on the login credentials. Also, the shared mailbox I've configured on the Exchange server, will be displayed in the users Outlook location. In the right lower corner of Outlook it says it's connected to the Exchange Server (no error messages) and it all looks fine. It can synchronize.

But once I try and send myself or any other user in the domain a message, it just won't be received. The message will be displayed in the sent items box. So the message seems to be sent away correctly, but it just doesn't appear in the inbox.

I think the problem is...

Configure Outlook for users

OK,

the general consensus is that users are to stupid to be able to use the wizard that you are presented with the first time you open outlook. I don't agree and think its pretty straight forward to let it auto detect and configure the Exchange settings when you log in but its a sticking point for my director. Is there a simple way to configure exchange connections etc for a user when they log in so they don't have to click next next next?

Exchange - use both NTLM and basic aut?

Hi!

We have a customer that got 5 users that uses that work mostly external and they uses Outlook anywhere with NTLM authentication to read mail with outlook.

The problem is that every time they visit the office (for work internal) they have to change the authentication mode to basic. So they are quite tired of changing this every time and then change it back to NTLM when they go outside.

The Exchange version is 2007.

Is it possible to allow both basic and NTLM internal or are there any other solution that helps the users so that they don't need to change authentication mode every time?

Is anyone out there using Solarwinds Web Helpdesk and Microsofts Exchange Online Protection (Spam Filter)? I'm having trouble getting emails through and was wondering if anyone had any ideas or a fix to it?

Help! One of our email is getting used to send spam.

I received a call from one of my user that shes receiving around 160-200 email bounce backs coming from Microsoft Outlook. From the screenshot, you will see that the messages are undelivered because its sent to random email addresses.I looked up the email address and according to Microsoft, it is a legit email address from the Exchange Server and you can actually change it using regedit. I tried resetting the users password and it slimmed down the bounce backs to less than a 10 per day, which is good but still unacceptable.

My user is using an iMac and using Thunderbird configured with Exchange 2010.

What do you guys think? Should I just create a new email for my user or is there anything else I can do? Thank you!

Outlook Rule/Script - Managing Group Emails Received

$

Hello everyone! My first post here so bear with me if this question has been asked prior, I was unable to locate it.

I have a user that manages emails as they come in to a distribution group. For example email sent to the group and member of the group responds with "got it". I was hoping that there is a way to take the original email and the "got it" email and delete them both or move them to a folder. This would alleviate the manager to have to go through their inbox and manually remove both emails and also by cleaning up their inbox to show only the emails that have not yet been responded to.

Any suggestions? We are using Outlook 2010.

After Exchange reboot, clients get "Your mailbox has been temporarily moved..."

For whatever reason we were not able to receive emails after about 9am this morning. We could send, and my redirect was still working; but Outlook just wasn't able to get anything new.

So I rebooted the server and now when everyone starts up Outlook, they get the following message:

"Your mailbox has been temporarily moved on Microsoft Exchange server. A temporary mailbox exists, but might not have all of your previous data.

You can connect to the temporary mailbox or work offline with all of your old data. If you choose to work with your old data, you cannot send or receive e-mail messages."

They then have the options of "Use Temporary Mailbox" which give them access to new mail and the ability to send, "Use Old Data" which gives them access to their old mail, but cannot send, or "Cancel".

What's going on here, how can I fix everyone so...

Mailboxes are being removed from one retention policy when added to another

Crazy story!

I have a retention policy for deleted the deleted items.
I have another retention policy for deleting the sent items.
Both policies are kicking in every 24 hours.
Check this out: after I finally added all the mailboxes I wanted to both policies I went in to the policies to make sure that they are still there and I only see very few of them and not all of them!
It's letting me add ALL the mailboxes to one policy only but then it removes them from the other policy. Unreal!

Did anybody else experience something like this???

We're with Exchange2010 SP3 RU10

How to remove active sync devices for all users after migration to O365

$

We have always had an issue with FIM not deleting old accounts when they still have active sync devices. We would run a script to remove those activesync devices, then it would complete successfully.

Now that we have migrated from Exchange on prem to Exchange Online, the script fails, but we still continue to have the issue deleting accounts.

If I manually run REMOVE-ACTIVESYNCDEVICES on our on-prem Exchange server I get the error. "Couldn't find 'domain.com/OU/username' as a recipient."

How can I remove activesync devices from all users now that we are fully migrated to exchange online?

Exchange 2007 Question

Hello Fellow Spiceworks Pros,

I'm stuck on a question regarding the way Exchange 2007 works. I'm looking to upgrade the hardware and had this question come up.

I typically use 7.2K SATA drives for the OS (Windows Server 2012 R2), but I was wondering if I should use SAS drives because Exchange will be installed on the C: drive. Can anyone give me an idea on this?

C:\ OS (RAID1) SATA 7.2K or SAS 15K

D:\ TLog (RAID1) SAS 15K

E:\ DB (RAID5) SAS 15K

What I'm trying to figure out if SAS 15K drives for the OS is overkill.

Thanks!

exchange 2010 background cleanup errors

Hi all,

We’re encountering some errors in our exchange environment and our unsure what the best course of action is.

Our setup: Two Exchange 2010 servers in a two member DAG environment. We have one mailbox and one archive database setup as active/passive.

The issue: This morning we received 10’s of thousands of the same error message within the space of a couple seconds on our active database exchange server:

Log Name: Application

Source: MSExchangeIS Mailbox Store

Date: 8/18/2015 3:08:48 AM

Event ID: 1108

Task Category: Background Cleanup

Level: Error

Description: Error 0x498 occurred during message background cleanup on database "mailbox database name".

I’m unsure if any error messages precipitated these events as the above events completely fill the log, around 50k~ events logged.

We previously encountered the above error messages several...

Exchange mail problems

Recently we used configured Exchange server using NAT for external email routing. Initially it worked fine, but after a while, when users want to access their email using OWA internally it takes them to office 365 home page, surprisingly when they are outside the company's network they can access their mails using OWA without any problems. what should i be looking at?

Exchange auto forward emails

Clients had a POP email box which they shared, while maintaining separate email alias names when sending email. ie jack@mail.com and john@mail.com both delivered to the same pop account and jack and john received and viewed each others email. When they sent mail it was delivered as either jack@mail.com or john@mail.com

I want to switch them over to a hosted exchange service with the same functionality. They don't want to open each others mailboxes, as this would not show the others incoming email in their own inbox in outlook or on a smart phone. I tried a server side rule forwarding email to each other with exceptions, but this arrives in the others mailbox as a forward from and does not show the original sender

is there an exchange script or any other ideas, which would achieve this and I can get the provider to install? Which doesn't...
