GetObject/SetObject Errors in Exchange 2013

Hi All,

I've just completed migrating exchange to exchange 2013 on server 2012 r2. However whenever we now use the ECP or connect to users mailbox to say set an out of office message because they forgot to before leaving via OWA, we get the following errors:

The server method 'GetObject' failed. or The server method 'SetObject' failed.

I've done some research on the subject and the answers all point to SSL certificate issues.

We only have the one certificate which we purchased bound to the default website and the exchange backend site in IIS.

This is how the bindings are configured in IIS for the Default Website:

Exchange Back End Site:

Our 3rd party SSL certificate which we purchased is attached to both https entries for the Default Web Site, as well as the https entry on the Exchange Back End site.

Is this correct?

Also should there be 2...

Hi Spiceheads

Just wondered if anyone can give me an insight as to slow mail being received.

External mail is taking between 30 mins to one hour to be received.

No issues with broadband or browsing the web

Internal email fine

DNS has been refreshed on DNS servers as well as Exchange server

No other services on Exchange server

Not sure what else to check, the exchange was re-started last week, issue has only just started this week.

Any advice will be greatly received

Outlook contact missing

I am no Exchange expert but we have a person who lost a contact through Outlook and I have created an RSG that has the database that holds her mailbox.  I can see that it is mounted in the Exchange Management Console however I do not know how to brows the DB to export her mailbox to a PST to see if the contact is there.  Does anyone have any suggestions on how to retrieve this item or an EDB reader that will show the information?  I looked at Lucid8 however I could not pull the information that I needed with the free version.

Outlook Default Send As Address

Hello,

We recently moved building and upgraded Exchange 2013. We've had a few issues surrounding roaming profiles and mailboxes.

I've resolved most of them but there is one which i can't find a solution for.

I need the 'Send As' address to be defaulted to an email which isn't the current users but the email for a mailbox that is mapped to theirs via Exchange.

We're currently running Outlook 2010.

Hope that makes sense!!

Authenticate to Exchange2013 behind a Spam Proxy

I havean application on our company website that, once completed, emails the information to our HR manager using the Swift Mailer php library. Once the user clicks submit Swift Mailer creates the transport, authenticates to Exchange, and sends the email. About two weeks ago I setup a Xeams proxy to filter incoming spam and it broke the application email. Our Watchguard used to be set to SNAT any port 25 traffic to our Exchange server - this has obviously changed to the IP of the Xeams server now and my when Swift Mailer goes to setup the transport it fails because it can't authenticate. As a stop gap I have created a new packet filter in the Watchguard to take any incoming port 25traffic from the webserver's IP addressand forward it to the Exchange server. This seems to fix the problembut I was just wondering if there wasa better/more...

Custom Outlook Copy Rules..

Good day.

We are using Public Folders and management wants all project related emails copied out to the Public Folders.  Is there a way to do this automatically if I put them on my personal Folders? Example:

Create rule or macro that:

Copies all email from Inbox\Client A\Job123 to Public_Folders\ClientA\Job123

? I can post screenshots if needed...

Exch 2010 to 2013 upgrade - to Edge or not to Edge?

Currently, our organization has two 2010 mail servers with the transport, mailbox, and client access roles installed, and then we have one Edge 2010 server (keeping in mind the Edge Subscription and sync services) routing mail to both.

Our MX records direct messages to a third party spam/malware filtering cloud-based service. From there, email for all of our domains is sent to our Edge server. Our plan is to bring in two 2013 servers with the transport, mailbox, and client access roles installed that will not receive inbound mail from the Edge server (we wish to eliminate the Edge server from the mix after the migration). Using the same 1-100 preference value as standard DNS MX records, we will send mail from the third party service to both our existing Edge and new 2013 servers. We'd set the new servers with a higher preference and...

Automatic (OOF) Reply Error after migration

I migrated from Exchange 2003 to 2010. Users who set their Automatic (OOF) Replies before the move still have it set. But when they try and change it now, they get an error saying: "Your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the server is currently unavailable. Try again later."

They can log in to Web Mail and remove or setup the OOF message, but not from Outlook.

We are using Outlook 2010 on Exchange 2010 with Windows 7 workstations. The old Exchange 2003 server is online, but all the mailboxes have been move to the Exchange 2010 server. Planning on removing the Exchange 2003 server this weekend.

Outlook 2010 can't open zip files in public folders.

This is very odd.  I have a new install of Win 7 with Outlook 2010 and I can't open a zip file attached to an email in a public folder.  It is not isolated to a single zip file, machine or user either.  I can open .pdf, xls, .txt and others OK.

Ideas?

Thanks!

Hi All

Recently we migrated our users to Exchange 2013. We were using Symantec EV archving before migration. Users still have these shortcuts and im trying to delete them through the Search-Mailbox script which is widely discussed everywhere. Unfortunately any mailbox i try it on it return 0 results. I have got the permissions for search and discovery.

Im using this script in exchange shell

Search-Mailbox -Identity ex2013.user -SearchQuery "IPM.NOTE.EnterpriseVault" -EstimateResultOnly

If i go to their outlook and search by message class it gives a lot of mails.

Am i missing something here

mail transport rule to block email with recipients in 2 different domains

Is it possible to set up a mail transport rule (Exchange 2007) to block or put on hold emails that are sent to recipients in more than one domain?

Eg if the recipients /cc/bcc are

joe@smith.com;mary@jones.com

then the email is held for approval before sending

Can this be limited to only process from certain sending addresses?

If it can't be done in 2007 can it be done in a later version or can it be done in a non microsoft product eg Postfix

I have an organization running Exchange 2007, they're self signed cert expired so I created a new one, they're AD root certificate also expired so I regenerated this also. The problem is when clients log on a certificate error comes up. I then have to log onto the server and transfer both certificate to the client machines and install them manually, I have to repeat this every time a user needs to access mail. Can anyone help with a resolution

Mail stuck in the submission queue on exchange 2010

All of our mail is stuck the the submission queue with status "ready". Even internal mail is not being routed. If I restart the transport service about 10 messages get processed and then it stops again. We have plenty of disk space left and I don't see anything that would relate to the issue in the error logs.

Please help!

Thanks

Configuring MS Exchange Outlook Client off network with Proxy Settings

In quite a dilemma here?!? I will try my best to explain what is happening in the shortest way possible.

Unfortunately we do not host the Exchange Server which is controlled by another agency.

I have a client that is off network. I am trying to set up their Outlook Email account and it is not connecting to the ExchangeServer withProxy Settings. In network their account configures, syncs, and updates all email, folder, calendar and account settings correctly. But when trying to configure the account using theExchange Proxy Settings, it will connect to the server, verifytheir name and password, and complete the configuration. However when you openOutlook, and enter their password, itwaits for a few minutes then errors out saying you must first connect to the server to sync the folders, then crashes.

All the proxy settings are correct, URL...

Outlook connection through VPN

Hi,

I work at a small company that consists of 10 members in Korea.

I, as the IT manager, would like to allow user to access outlook through VPN so that user don't have to use strange font on mobile device.

Anyway, I've spent few hours to configure VPN and our machine can connect our internal resource via VPN.

However, in order to access file server, user have to type the IP of the server not the hostname or shared folder path and outlook cannot connect to the exchange server.

So temporarily, I've replaced the exchange server name in the outlook settings with its IP address and then I've added the IP and exchange server name into the hosts file.

Well, result is successful, but what if my company has 100 employees or 200, 300?

Should I change the configuration on each machine?

Hence, I would like to get answers from experts in here.

I assume...

Exchange Online Archiving - Custom Personal Retention Tags

$

So I have been tasked with establishing an archiving policy for one of our clients that will help manage their older email in a more efficient manner as end users right now are just keeping all of their email in one primary mailbox and loading all of the messages when they start up the Outlook 2013 client.

After doing some research, my thoughts are that the best solution for my client since they already use Exchange Online is to take advantage of the Online Archiving solution that is offered. I figured out how to create my own personal retention tags via EMC and then how to apply that to the default retention policy so that mailboxes that have online archiving enabled can utilize those personal tags.

I created the following tags

- Personal 1 week move to archive

- Personal 2 week move to archive

- Personal 1 month move to archive

- Personal...
