Attachments issue with Outlook/Exchange 2013

We have an Exchange 2013 environment, all users are on Outlook 2013 as well.

We just had an issue where a user replied to an email thread (from their Outlook client) and attached a .docx file

The email (according to the header) was sent in HTML format.

Multiple recipients of the email opened the email within their Outlook and could not see the attachment.

However they could see it on their phones.

Looking at the header of one of the recipients I could see 'winmail.dat' in there, which lead me to think it had something to do with HTML vs RTF format.  However I can't find an issue with the sender.

I'm stuck at this point.

Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 - Event id 2915 - office365 migration

Hi all,

I am in the process of migrating to O365 and it is happening a painfully slow rate. 100GB exchange edb. In 6days it has moved up about 60GB to office 365 on 70MB Leased Line.

Not a bandwidth issue, appears to be the EWS cannot handle the requests.

I keep getting these exchange errors below:

Process w3wp.exe () (PID=6044). User 'Sid~DGY\MigrationUser~EWS~false' has gone over budget '247' times for component 'EWS' within a one minute period. Info: 'Policy:SKMigration, Parts:CAS:246;'. Threshold value: '100'.

Do not Send out of office reply for distribution list

Hi,

We have hundreds of users in a distribtion lists we do not want their personal OOF to send out for these when the distribution group is emailed.  Where is this configured on Exchange 2013?  Previously it was on the Exchange advanced tab.

I cant expect everyone to add OOF rules in Outlook they will forget, but I know that is an option.  I am looking for something more global or based on group is best!

Exchange Management Shell Expressions

Hi SpiceHeads, trying to do a query locating an exact string of text which is not at the beginning of the subject but rather the end, I need an exact match, here is what I am using.

get-mailbox -server "mymailserver" | search-mailbox -searchquery "Kind:meetings and Subject:'* - SNG*'" -logonly -loglevel full -targetmailbox mymailbox -targetfolder SNG

So as you can see it has white space in it, the results I am getting are treating the  - like an operator in that the results are returning anything with a whitespace and also anything matching SNG.

Disable Attachment Size Notification in Outlook

I want to implement a new software to send files over a certain size to go through FTP. With the plugin, I can set it to send anything over 15mb through the FTP. The issue that I have is that our exchange server only allows 20MB. So I want to send a 50MB file over FTP, but I can't attach it to the email without getting the error message from outlook. I don't want to get rid of the limit in exchange, just the notification in outlook.

Is that possible?

Prevent tasks from archiving in Exchange 2013

I am unable to prevent users Tasks from moving to the auto-archive in Exchange 2013.

I've created a Retention Tag (via powershell) to never Archive Tasks.

Then applied that tag to a Retention policy and have since applied that policy to the user.

The users's tasks are still getting moved to his online-archive.

Been working on this Office365 migration for awhile and down to public folders migration. Its been a VERY difficult experience dealing with India techs, but I am almost done. Here are the details: Migrating from Exchange 2003 to Office365. All users have been migrated. Now we are left with the public folders and shared "Master Calendar". I have exported the public folders to a PST file and I now need to import to Office365. Google results on this topic are not clear to me. Can somebody please walk me through the best way to finish my migration?

Hopefully we can finish the cutover before Friday so we can change the MX record before the weekend.

Hi Guys,

I need some professional help from you guys being really expert in exchange ! I have exchange 2010 at my organization (recently joined). I had to figure out permissions for each mailbox in my exchange organization. So I executed the following script which ran like a charm with a full list of mailbox, user having permission on that mailbox and type of permission as well.

Get-Mailbox -resultsize unlimited| Get-MailboxPermission | where {$_.user.tostring() -ne "NT AUTHORITY\SELF"} | Select Identity,User,@{Name='Access Rights';Expression={[string]::join(', ', $_.AccessRights)}} | Export-Csv -NoTypeInformation C:\script\mailboxperm1.csv

Now the issue is, These permissions in this list are not visible in GUI of EMC. If I try to remove them using Exchange power shell, sometimes they are removed and sometimes I get this warning and...

Calendar sharing and editing between 2 exchange 2013 organisations

Hi Guys

I recently had a client that was forced to split into 2 separate organisations each with their own exchange 2013 setup. However they will be sharing vehicles and conference rooms etc and previously they had calendars setup to manage this. I want to be able to have a calendar setup that both exchange organisations can access and edit.

I setup federated trust between the exchange servers however all I can do is view information and no one can actually make any changes etc.

Anyone know how this can be done easily?

Thanks

Windows 8.1 Mobile with Exchange 2010 error code 85010019

This is driving me insane now. Can you help?

I have a client with an SBS 2011 Server running Exchange 2010. The customer has and still uses iPhones, Andriod and Blackberries over the life of this server.

He has now purchased a Microsoft Phone, but we cannot get it to syncronise with Exchange, at first I thought it was the self signed certificate. So I ran through the SBS wizards to order a signed certificate from GoDaddy. This is now installed and working fine with everthing except the WIndows Phone. I have tried my Nokia 1520 with this server and it wont work either.

The only error i get is:

Email Error
Not updated

We're havinging a problem with the server or your
connection. Try again later.

Last tried XX minutes ago
Error code: 85010019

The reason this is driving me insane is that the only thing i can find about error 85010019 is a...

Outlook 2013/ Exchange 2010 User Mailbox reached Limit and OWA is not reachable

Hello Folks,

I have a strange Outlook/ Exchange problem with one of our Users, interestingly it’s the Boss of our company….

The Background:

- We have 2 Domains @company-1 or @company-2

- We have 1 Exchange 2010 Server Version 14.03.0224.002

- Till March of this year our Emails where hosted externally, we used to download the Emails every 2 minutes from POP3 Mailboxes into Exchange

- We have 18 Users

- So every User had a User account on our Exchange and a Mailbox externally

- Now we host our Emails our self via MX and DNS Records(mail.company.cc)

- The User kept their Exchange accounts, OWA is now working too

So far all works well on my little Server farm.

The Catch:

Usually our users have only one Email address either @company-1 or @company-2

Except our Boss and one other User, they have an Email address in both Domains

They have addresses one...

Exchange 2013 External HTTP access

We have an on-premise Exchange 2013 server which is installed on a Windows Server 2012 OS, by default our firewall is setup to block all outbound traffic from this server apart from SMTP.

In the logs I have noticed a lot of outbound requests to Microsoft and Akamai IP address on HTTP/HTTPS ports, looking around online it seems this is for things like Anti-Spam definition updates.

Does anyone know if it is possible to grab these from our internal WSUS server instead or if not is there a list anywhere of Microsoft IPs/DNS records I can add into our white list. I am wary of opening the server up with outbound access without a control list.

Thanks for your time.

Hi,

We have a new exchange server installed in our domain and we are moving all our mail transmitted through epicor to this server, and I am experiencing this error

There is problem sending customer order confirmations by email. The

message says the mailbox is unavailable. The server response was 5.7.1. Unable

to relay

Now I know there is nothing wrong within Epicor, What is wrong with the Exchange server?

Is it something to do with the receive connectors in the HUB transport I have got set up?

All other mail flow is working correctly

Ian

Outlook/Exchange Error?

Hi Everyone

I've been experiencing an error over the past two weeks which has left me comletely stumped...

Occasionaly my users are greeted with an error message that reads...

"The Microsoft Exchange administrator has made changes that requires you quit and restart outlook" and it takes a full reboot of our exchange server to get things working again.

We are also having problems with our claims management system (Proclaim) where we get errors popping up when it tries to process emails, they process fine, but the error persists?

No changes have been made to exchange.

Any help on this??

Thanks.

Outlook 2013 Public Folders search

Hi all. I'm having issues with one of my users trying to search a specific folder on public folders in outlook 2013. I've added the folder to the user's favorites list so it can cache a local copy to speed up searches. When the user clicks on the folder contained in the favorites tab, the user can see the inbox with real-time inbound mails. However, when doing a search, the results are returned but it immediately begins to remove the results one by one, from most recent to oldest. I say remove because I don't know if they're being deleted or not.

I've been digging through all my settings and I still cannot figure out where this issue is happening. Any ideas what I can do?

What is the difference between IncomingLogCopyingNetwork & OutgoingConnections?

$

Hi all,

Does anyone know the difference between the IncomingLogCopyingNetwork and OutgoingConnections for an Exchange 2010 DAG?

When I run this Exchange 2010 PowerShell command:

Text
Get-mailboxdatabasecopystatus –connectionstatus | fl name, outgoingconnections, incominglogcopyingnetwork

I can see successful connections details for OutgoingConnections on a 2 node DAG but the IncomingLogCopyingNetwork has timeout communication errors, however there are no issues with MAPI or replication.

What function does the IncomingLogCopyingNetwork have if both mailbox servers have successful outgoing connections to each other?

Please let me know if you need more information about the environment.

Thanks,

Dale

I have installed exchange 2013 at home but I am now unable to get onto ECP or OWA, It was working when I first installed however after a restart it stopped working I get error this page cannot be displayed, I read somewhere that this could be an issue with the bindings and added in a biding for port 80 and 443, However when I tried to get into ECP it would auto direct to outlook web app and when trying to get onto OWA I would still get an error, I have played about with the bindings again and I am now again unable to access either ECP and OWA, Could anyone advise what I am doing wrong?

Corporate Signature by Transport Rule - Exchange 2013

We've developed a standard corporate email signature using transport rule conditions in Exchange 2013 as defined in this article:(https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd638183%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx).

Some of the data populating from AD is using AD attributes(DisplayName, Title, PhoneNumber, and Email). Everything seems to be working exactly as we'd like, with the exception of PhoneNumber, which has a leading underscore on the number (example: _555-555-5555). During the course of troubleshooting, I was reviewing this list of all AD attributes https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms675090%28v=vs.85%29.aspxand noticed that there is no PhoneNumber attribute listed.

The phone numberdata we populated in AD Users and Computersis associated with the TelephoneNumber attribute, so somehow that information is corresponding to the...

Moving from SBS 2011 to Exchange 2013

$

Hi fellow spiceworkers,

I am planning on migrating from SBS 2011 to 2012 r2/Exchange 2013 and having a separate 2012 R2 DC.

It has been mentioned and my understanding that it is important to raise the forest functional level (currently 2003) before installing Exchange 2013. My intention is to raise it to 2008.

Current configuration:

2011 SBS with FSMO ROLE and 2003 functional level.

2012 R2 DC.

3 x 2012 R2 DC's at various remote sites connected via VPN.

Should I move the FSMO role to the 2012 R2 DC first, wait to replicate, THEN raise the functional level or should I raise the functional level, wait for replication then move the FSMO role?

Also, would anyone have any other considerations I should take when doing this?

Thanks for any advice in advance.

Ralph
