Exchange 2010 hybrid issues with certificate and mailflow

Hello everyone,

I have on-premise Exchange 2010 which is a local mail server, only local users use to exchange emails locally does not have any MX records on public DNS.and other users have mailboxes on office365 which configured on outlook clients as pop3 email accounts so every user of those have 2 accounts on outlook and of course the doesn't receive any emails from on premise users.

I decided to merge the office365 accounts so i started with the ADD client syncing them with Azure AD and merged smoothly and the passwords have been changed to the local accounts passwords.

no i am trying to use HCW to merge mailboxes and i have 2 concerns.

1- Do i have to buy a public SSL cert to use it between on-premises Exchange server and office365 or the local one will do the job?

2- As the on-premises exchange 2010 does not send email outside LAN,...

Exchange Hybrid - Retire old domain controller

Greetings Spiceheads,

I am running Exchange 2013 in Hybrid Mode.

My network consists of two Domain Controllers. One Windows Server 2012 and the other one a few years older.

I want to retire the older DC and install a brand new one.
Everything on the old DC has been moved (FSMO Roles, DHCP, DNS, etc.)

However, when I shut the old DC down, mail flow stops.

I can confirm, when I run the command through the Exchange Management Shell, Get-HybridConfiguration it shows the Originating Server as the old DC.

How do I proceed? Must I configure Exchange to look at the other DC? Or when I demote the old DC will Exchange automatically update?

I did see an article that shows the command Set-HybridConfiguration - DomainController

Looking for the proper procedure so I don't break anything!

I’ve got pretty much all my users and groups migrated to the cloud now and I’m looking to remove the on-prem exchange (2010!) does anyone have any pointers or gotchas to consider?

Mail rule to Prepend message showing Original sender

$

I have a rule on Office 365 mail to prepend incoming emails from and external source to set a disclaimer stating that the email originates from outside the organisation etc. I have just noticed on a mail thread with a company who I have have correspondence with that on their disclaimer they have managed to show my email address. So from their point of view when I email them, their users get a disclaimer showing that the email is from an external source but it also shows my email address as the sender.

How can we do this in an Exchange online rule?

Hiya,

I am looking at giving all users on a tenant access to several Office 365 resource calendars at once via Powershell.

I.e.

All users access to calendar@domain.co.uk

User will need to manually add them but I need to give every user access to edit the calendar.

Any ideas?

Moved Outlook messages still show up in Inbox

Starting a few months ago (perhaps due to an update in Office 365 to ProPlus v1902), whether moving emails manually or via a macro

```vba
Sub MoveMessage(oOlObj As Object, oOlFoldTrg As Outlook.Folder, Optional conf As Boolean = False)
...
oOlObj.Move oOlFoldTrg
...
End Sub
```

from `Inbox` to another folder of my Exchange account [`MyFolder`], I see behavioral issues:

1. Unexpected:
1. Email still shows in `Inbox` when typing anything in the search bar that matches the email
2. With email selected *from the Search Results list*, ALT+ENTER shows Properties, including Location - Inbox

2. Expected: (inconsistent with the above)
1. Compared to 1.1, the email does not show in `Inbox` normally without searches
2. Opening the email via ENTER, and going to File, shows the correct location of the email [`MyFolder`] as the second item
3. When...

Does Exchange 2010 need to be removed before AD migration?

I am decommissioning an old Windows SBS 2011 server that had Exchange 2010 on it and migrating the AD to Windows Server 2019.  The client has moved to 365 and Exchange is no longer necessary.  Do I need to or should I remove Exchange 2010 from the SBS 2011 server before AD migration, or is that not necessary?  I don't want any trace of Exchange carrying over to the new server.

Exchange DAG Setup - Backups During Seeding

Hi Guys

I have configured a new DAG between two sites and am about to add the second Mailbox Database Copy. Do the backups need to be disabled whilst the initial database seeding is in progress so logs are not truncated during this process? This is for Exchange 2010.

Thanks

Mail enabled security group for sharing calenders: adding new members

https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/2197006-giving-calendar-permissions-through-mail-enabled-secu...

In this tread is stated that we can share a calender by giving permission to a mail-enabled security group.

But if I add a member to this security group, the object is not updated for sharing/permission. We have to delete the group from the share/permissions and re-add it. But If I want to add a member, delete from permissions and re-add, the members already in this security group again get email to accept an invitation for a calender for wich they were allready entitled.

We are a small organisation, so I can set permissions per client on a shared calender. What if you where to do this in a large company?

TLS Error with vendor

We recently just started having an issue with a TLS connector that was setup with a vendor. Just recently we started having issues sending emails to just that particular vendor. From what I was told there was not a certificated needed or the TLSDomain when this was setup (but that could be wrong). Any advice? Also the domain controller had been migrated to a newer box.

Postmaster/Hostmaster password change

I need to change the password for our two accounts from the title in AD. I have looked online to see what the impact of that would be and I can't find anything. I assume it just like a normal exchange where you just change the password and your good to go, but being the accounts they are I want to make sure.

Exchange 2010 CasArray coexistance with 2016

Hello guys,

Long story short.

We have a Cas of 2 servers exchange 2010. We added an exchange server 2016.

We migrated some users from 2010 MBXDB to 2016 MBXDB . Those users and the one created on 2016 can't log into Outlook 2010 nor 2016...

AutodiscoverURL looks OK, all pointing to the 2016.

When I try to log in Outlook, I got a message saying that server is unreachable.

Digging a bit more in the control panel > mail > datafile > general > exchange server.

The fqdn of the exchange server is the CasArray fqdn. I think that's where the problem is. The user MBX is in 2016 exchange DB. Outlook interrogate the CAS of 2010 exchange and doesn't find the user's MBX...

When I put the ip/fqdn of the 2016 server into the mail setting through control panel. I can open outlook and access to my mail... Once... When i shut down outlook and restart...

Hi,

our emails are not delivering to yahoo and in gmail it is landing to SPAM . recently we changed our Public IP and forgot to update reverse DNS. for about a week we did not realise that email is not delivering to some domain because of reverse DNS. after 2 weeks the problem has resolved and email is delivering fine. of course after adding a PTR record. but emails still not delivering to yahoo and it domains that are hosting in Yahoo

here is the error

421 4.7.0 [TS01] Messages from x.x.x.x temporarily deferred due to user complaints - 4.16.55.1

we remove the emails from the exchange queue and stop sending emails to yahoo for about 2 days because its mentioned that error is temporary and according to Yahoo guideline. i did lots of research and verified our domain and IP reputation everything is fine even SPF record, DKIM and PTR record is...

Blocking originating IP address for incoming emails in Exchange 2013

We are using Outlook with Exchange 2013 email server and have been getting spammed by someone who hacked one of our clients contact lists and is sending us emails from different hosts. It's looks like it's coming from our customer but the actual email is from a different email address, not sure what this is called when they do that...

customer@theirISP.com<bob@differentISP.com>

Looking at the headers I see that the origin IP is the same each time (190.80.239.11) but the hop right before it hits our server is from a different host each time. The IP is on multiple blacklists already so I'm confused as why the IPBlocklistProviders (smamhaus and smapcop) are letting the emails through. I have also used Add-IPBlockListEntry -IPAddress 190.80.239.11 to block the IP.

Emails are still coming through from this IP address, how do I properly block...

Hi,

I have just setup an exchange 2019 mail server, I am able to send emails to outlook.com, and also receive email from outlook.com, I can also send an email to my work address, but when i reply to email from work, it never arrives in my exchange server.

I get message 'Delivery is delayed'

Remote Server returned '554 5.4.0 < #4.0.0 smtp; 4.4.0 - Other network problem '[Errno 0] Error' (delivery attempts: 0)>'

Then eventually the message completely fails with a to old error.

I have used DNStools, MX Tools and Microsoft analyser but cannot work out why the mail never arrives from my work email, but works from eg outlook.com.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Manage Distribution list Owners Office 365

So I have a bit of an issue that I'm trying to resolve. We have a team that has set distribution lists for every location. This team sends out information to each individual location using the distro lists. So in total we have 59 distribution lists handled by this single group. A single team handles all the adding and removing of users on these lists. Its a pain to manually add and remove members of this team every time someone leaves the company or moves to a different group.

The distribution lists are within AD that then syncs up to Office 365. So I thought create a security group to manage or be the owner of all these distro lists. that way when someone needs to be added or removed from the group you just go to the security group and made the changes and it will carry over to all the distro lists. Apparently that doesn't...

Email delivery issue after migrating 1 domain from Exchange to Office 365

Hi,

We have a Exchange 2010 Server hosting multiple domains, for ex.

abc.com, def.com and xyz.com

One of the domains xyz.com have been migrated to Office 365 and Exchange mailboxes for all users in the xyz.com domain have been disabled, xyz.com, address book policies, etc have been removed and the domain has also removed from accepted domains. External mail is being delivered to Office 365. The issue is that when users in abc.com and def.com try to send an email to xyz.com, it fails with the error #550 5.1.1 RESOLVER.ADR.ExRecipNotFound; not found ##. It is because it is trying to deliver it internally. I have deleted the Outlook cache but I am still getting mail delivery errors when I send to users in xyz.com. Does anyone know how to fix this? Your help is much appreciated.

We're using Office 365 with Outlook desktop app.

I have several users saying their assistant creates appointments and meetings for them in their own calendars. But then if they need to edit/reschedule it themselves they cant because it was created by someone else, even though its in their own calendar.

Can anybody tell me what I need to do to allow my users to edit appointments in their own calendar that were created by somebody else please?

Many thanks.
