We are installing some new exchange servers on Vmware. I want to make sure I’m really clear on some stuff I have read. One thing said do not install exchange on Thin Provisioning another said do not install any data base on thin provisioning.
So does it mater if I install the OS on Thin Provisioning If i plan to install the Exchange server onto a difinet drive that is not Thin Provisiond. Here is what it would look like.
I’m setting up 4 drives for our exchange roll out. One for the OS, one for the log files, one for the mail boxes and one for the archive. Am I safe to say that the following config is OK or would you advise against using thin provisioning at all on any exchange server?
VMware 5.1
Win2008 R2
Exchange 2010
C: OS – Thin Provision
D: Logs – Thick Provision Eager Zeroed
E: Mailbox – Thick Provision Eager Zeroed
F: Archive – Thick Provision Eager Zeroed
