After upgrading to Exchange 2013 my server-side Outlook rules stopped working. After going through a long and painful troubleshooting exchange with MS support they had me export my mailbox and then re-import it. This didn't fix the issue and seems to have confused the whole thing instead.
The actual fix to the problem was to remove my mailbox as the JournalingReportNdrTo box. The behavior of this changed from between Ex 2010 and 2013.
So for the past ~year I have been putting up with this problem of receiving multiple reminders for the same item in my calendar. As well as seeing even more repeat reminders for old items when I login to OWA.
For example, this morning I had a single appointment at 9AM but Outlook popped up three reminders at the same time.
