AutoDiscover - HTTP Redirect

Hi All

Has anyone tinkered much with autodiscover HTTP redirecting?

My situation is this. Exchange 2007. Outlook 2007 clients all working fine using autodiscover.domain1.co.uk.

In the last week new departments will be using Exchange and they have different domain requirements - domain2.co.uk. I have added domain2 as an allowed domain in Exchange and added default SMTP's etc and all that is working fine. But I cant get AutoDiscover to behave. I have a GoDaddy UCC SAN cert with autodiscover.domain1.co.uk. But at this moment dont want to add additional domains to the cert. So After research I decided to use autodiscover http redirect. So I pointed public DNS autodiscover.domain2.co.uk to my firewall and NAT'd to another server with IIS and created a website called autodiscover. I then bound autodiscover.domain2.co.uk to the site and redirected to the current autodiscover.xml - http://autodiscover.domain1.co.uk/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml.

This appeared to work. When configuring outlook first time wizard I got a dialog box asking to allow the redirect to take place (I have suppressed with with a GP - regkey). The problems lies in that I have another dialog box stating "The name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site - Do you want to proceed?" . This seems to popup before the redirect confirmation dialog.

Clicking yes to the cert prompt and then testing out of office seems to work initially. but then next day when all the users logged back in out of office was not working and they get an error that the outlook cant connect to the server.

FYI - Ran https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/‎ and it passed using the HTTP redirect method. It just seems to be an internal issue.

Can anyone share any advice at all?

Many thanks
