Exchange 2010 - Create Mail Contact with External Address (SMS)

Hi!

I can't, for the life of me, figure out why this isn't working:

I have a climate monitoring appliance in my server room that I have been using and wanted to add an sms alert capability. I can't get it to work on an e-mail relay because my Exchange server will not allow a relay to the sms address from this appliance. It will, however, relay from it to a distribution group with Exchange mailbox members.

So I created an Exchange "Mail Contact" with an external e-mail address and set it to 5551234567@messaging.sprintpcs.com and set the "Message Delivery Restrictions" so that it does not "Require that all senders are authenticated".

Next, I added this "Mail Contact" to a distribution group along with 2 other users with Exchange mailboxes and set the "Message Delivery Restrictions" so that it does not "Require that all senders are authenticated".

When initiate a test e-mail, I get the message in the two Exchange mailboxes but it never reaches my phone via SMS. I tried sending an e-mail from Outlook to the same SMS address by manually typing it in and I received the SMS alert.

When I sent an e-mail from Outlook using the Exchange "Mail Contact", I got an NDR:

IMCEAEX-_O=FIRST+20ORGANIZATION_OU=EXCHANGE+20ADMINISTRATIVE+20GROUP+20+28FYDIBOHF23SPDLT+29_CN=RECIPIENTS_CN=R+20Mobile@mydomain.com
#550 5.2.0 RESOLVER.ADR.BadPrimary; recipient primary SMTP address is missing or invalid ##

Anyone know how to get this working?

Thanks!
