exchange 2010 and Exchange 2016 co-existing

Hello,

we have exchange 2010 and exchange 2016 co-existing and have been told that since we have exchange 2010 that the latest CU for exchange 2016 we can run is CU 6 as there is a change after CU 6 that breaks the compatibility between the environments. Can anyone confirm this or even better tell me they have exchange 2016 and Exchange 2010 co-existing and have installed a higher CU than 6 on their exchange 2016 servers.
